Just over a year ago I stumbled upon HSBlogger. That day I posted my first entry. Both my parents and Hubby's parents live in other parts of the country, so I thought it would be a great tool to keep them in the picture! Little did I know that I would make such good friends from all over the world, glean some brilliant ideas on homeschooling and be inspired daily by other people's lives, their triumphs and their heartaches! Thank you to the HSBlogger team… You opened a whole new chapter in my life!

Leave a testimony

When I'm at my vendor booth at homeschool conventions, I often meet moms who say they have a hard time finding other homeschooling moms to befriend. This past year, I've been pointing them to HomeschoolBlogger.com. I tell them to visit the blogs and leave comments at the ones they like best, and before they know it, they'll have wonderful friends! I've sure gotten to know a lot of awesome people thanks to HomeschoolBlogger.com.

When Life Feels Weedy  by Karen
This morning as my daughter and I pulled weeds in our yard, she started to comment (as most children I know who have a good understanding of the theology of sin do) that she wished Adam and Eve hadn't disobeyed God. After all, their disobedience caused all the painful consequences we face - illness, thorny weeds, addictions, relationship disruptions and much more. As always, I pointed her to the fact that all these difficulties we face remind us of our need for Jesus. Then (as she wandered off to a place with less difficult weeds) I got to thinking about the (more)
A day off  by moparwife
I cannot believe how busy I have been!  This coaching gig takes up more time than I thought it would.  It's all good though.  The boys made it to 2 sessions of VBS this summer (thanks to D being in the choir and leading worship) and had a blast both times. They award points throughout the week for good behavior, doing something kind for others, memory verses, etc.  LV and D both won awards for most points in their classes the first week.  LM was bummed because he didn't win, but he tends to be in his own world a (more)
Colorado bans the distribution of the Bible!  by Editor in Chief
(Liberty Counsel) Colorado just passed a law that, in our legal opinion, could ban the distribution of the Bible in that state. The Law -- SB 200 -- bans the distribution of any written material that discriminates based on "sexual orientation." According to the law, that includes... ...any communication, paper, poster, folder, manuscript, book, pamphlet, writing, print, letter, notice, or advertisement of any kind, nature, or description which is intended or calculated to discriminate or actually discriminates..."   Liberty Counsel's legal team has concluded that this statute effectively means a judge in Colorado has the power to ban the distribution of the Bible in (more)
Creating A Weak Society  by Psalm40
To look at our Congress and President you would have to think very few of them have raised responsible adults that understand there are and should be negative consequences to our poor choices. Believing few of them have undergone the difficult task of holding children to a high standard of personal responsibility is the only way to fathom bailing out Fannie Mae and Freddie Mack. I am discusted and determined to continue living a happy counterculture life.                        The housing crisis was caused by greed and greed alone. Lending money to those who couldn't afford and those who couldn't afford (more)
Introduction  by Jennifer
Hello to all who have happened upon my little blog site!  I thought it would be nice to give a brief introduction to our little family before I get to the meat of what this blog will mostly consist of.  I will post mainly about our day to day lives and our adventures in learning.  I will also be blogging some of my thoughts about God as he reveals new things to me through scripture.  I also hope that it will be a good way to keep my out of town family involved with our lives.   Our family consists of Mom, (more)
Wildlife in the City  by Danielle
I often think about the wildlife that we miss by being in the city.  Friends who live on country roads tell about deer in the backyard, foxes, catching frogs in the creek, and an abundance of other creatures.  Recently, however, our backyard seems to be abounding in nature.  Unfortunately, it isn't the cuddly, cute nature I might pick! Last week the children found a very large, very fuzzy caterpillar.  They made a temporary home for it in a Gladware container and excitedly showed it to Dad when he came home.  The next morning my 6 year old was in tears, as she (more)
First Week of School  by Amanda
I started this blog a few months back and have yet to make an entry.   But seeing that we started school back I thought I would give it a whirl.  Ill start with a little about myself.  I am a mother of 5 children, 4 boys and one girl.  My daughter is 13 and my boys are 10, 6, 5, and almost 4.   I am married to my best friend and just love staying home with my kiddos.  Of course their are days when I wonder why, but I cant imagine doing it anyother way. Monday we started school back (more)

"JESUS KNOWS AND CARES" "In all things it behoved Him to be made like unto His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful high priest..." (Heb. 2.17).      INTRO.: A song which expresses the merciful nature of Christ as our High Priest is "Jesus Knows And Cares" (#465 in Hymns for Worship Revised). The text was written and the tune was composed both by Paul Epps, who was born on Mar. 20, 1914, in Booneville, AR. What a week!  by charityanne
When it rain, it pours. We woke up Tuesday morning to a very depressed house hold, especially our German Shepard/Chocolate Lab, Leroy.  Yesterday was still lingering on everyones heart when Billy & Ricky went out to feed our Goats, Callie & Maggie only  was to find a pack of wild dogs in our yard. We all ran outside, but it too late, the goats were done. We were devastated.  Now before you think our girls were just live stock, let me assure you they were not! We purposely picked these goaties because they were bottle feed & kid smothered.  We (more)
The Lock-in  by WNT Fan~Savannah
Well, the lock-in last night was great! We played dodgeball which was so much fun! My feet are sore from running on the sanctuary floor! We played some other games too- if you want to know the names and how to play them tell me and I will P.M. them to you! We had pizza and soda, and watched the second National Treasure movie. It was pretty good, but I had been playing soccer before the movie and wasn't in a movie-watching mood! We did some worship early this morning, and I was really tired! And last night, we had (more)
Good thing East Tennessee doesn't get hurricanes  by Dad2Three
Thunderstorms rolled through our part of the country late Monday afternoon.  Our power was out Monday evening, throughout the night and all day Tuesday.  After having no air conditioning, lights or computer for 23 hours and 14 minutes, an ABC News story jumped out at me   ABC News said:  "Dolly, a Category 1 hurricane, was expected to dump up to 15 inches of rain, threatening flooding that could breach levees in the heavily populated Rio Grande valley.  Dolly, upgraded from a tropical storm Tuesday, had sustained winds of 85 mph. Utility company AEP Texas reported power outages to more than 9,200 (more)

New Computer  by ChristineH
My DH surprised me by bringing home a new computer the other night. My old one was getting to be VERY slow, and the drivers could not be updated anymore. DH said that I needed a better computer for all of the school things I do. I didn't need a monitor as my old died quite a while ago, so DH had already replaced that. The biggest change is the operating system. This computer has Windows Vista. My old one had XP. We will swap around some hardware and create an updated computer for our children. The hard drive on (more)
"Jesus! Jesus! Jesus!"  by hymnstudies
"JESUS! JESUS! JESUS!" "That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow..." (Phil. 2.10)      INTRO.: A hymn which emphasizes the importance of the name of Jesus is "Jesus! Jesus! Jesus!" The text by an unknown author and the tune (Llanthony) by an anonymous composer both are taken from an undated collection called the Llanthony Abbey Hymns. Among hymnbooks published by members of the Lord's church during the twentieth century for use in churches of Christ, the song appeared in the 1963 Christian Hymnal edited by J. Nelson Slater. Other books in my collection to have the song include the 1951 (more)
