This week on YWL, we are supposed to write a short story, with the base sentence being:
"OH MY GOODNESS! What are you doing here?"
So, without further ado, here is my short story.
"OH MY GOODNESS! What are you doing here?" I turned around, to see my best friend, Abbygail, across the room from me. I felt my heart jump for joy, at seeing my best friends. Abbygail moved to a different state two years ago, and I haven't see her since. I had to take a double check, and make sure it was her, and when I was sure, I ran over to her, and gave her a hug.
"I thought that I'd come and wish my best friend, a happy fifteenth birthday." She said sweetly and I smiled at her. It felt so good to see her face again, and be able to talk to her in person.
"I'm so glad that you are here. When are you leaving?" I asked, bringing up the question of doom. I don't want her to ever go back home, I just want her to stay here.
"Tomorrow, but mom said that I can stay with you the night, and we can hang out, and catch up and stuff." She rambled on, and I had to smile. I had almost forgotten about Abbygail's rambling (almost).
"Oh, I don't want you to go at all, but I guess that we have to just be happy with the time we have together."
The next morning, as Abbygail was getting ready to leave, I was trying not to cry. I don't want her to go, I just want my best friend here with me.
"Goodbye, Heather." She said quietly, and then the tears did come. As hard as I tried to keep them in, they came. And we stood there together, crying.
"Goodbye, Abbygail." I said, and forced a smile, as she got in her mom's car. If I have learned one thing from this whole experience of seeing Abbygail again, it's that I'll never take my friends for granted again, because they might not be with you forever.
