What is wrong with America these days?!
Posted in A day in the Life of Ashley
I woke up this morning, totally hoping for good news, that John McCain would be our new president, and that we'd never have to hear about Barack Obama again.
I got the exact oppisite, and I don't know why. Why would any smart person in America vote for some DUMB person like Obama? I mean, it just doesn't make sense. How could anyone be as stupid, to vote in a guy like Barack Obama?
I know we didn't even have a good republican to vote for either; John McCain wasn't great either, but he was better than Obama.
I'm wondering what's going to happen to this world, with him as leader over it; but I am letting it up to God, and I trust him fully.

I mean, isn't it OBVIOUS that Barack is self-centered and stupid? He's written three biographies. O.o
What does he have to write about?
Mommy just hopes he'll be impeached. :)
Happy thought. xD
and McCain wasn't the best they could have done, but Palin was AWESOME!!!

I was quite disheartened when I knew Obama was going to get it. (I was praying that McCain would get in and I just felt like God was telling me that Obama was going to get in.)
Technology is so tempermental. It's so funny that your iPod has 252. Such a random number I have to laugh. :-D
Thanks. I love my new template too. I had an idea.........(when I get an idea I don't stop until it's a reality. Frustrates my mom because she's the one who hears all about it. :-D)

America! What a lovely name!
I can finally say that name with out being ashamed of
our president, the worst and stupidest human being who ever lived. I'm sure he commited all seven deadly sins in his time at the white house.
As for McCain, I so felt really bad that his friends (The knights of king arthur's original court),
that I wept a little tear and played sad violin music, my friends (NOT!).
I'm glad that Obama is going to be president,
he will be the best EVER!
McCain Sucks! Palin Sucks!
Bush 1 and 2 Suck!

Yeah, I'm not sure where this is all going to lead, but I'm not liking the looks of things. But what if we all prayed for Obama? Instead of dwelling on all the bad stuff he may do, what if we all prayed for him to become a Christian? I know it sounds like a long shot, but with god all things are possible. I mean, take a look at Paul/Saul. No one would have thought that after killing so many Christians that he would become one himself! Maybe if we prayed for him he'd see the True Light!

It is sad isn't it, that people would vote for him. But we just need to trust the Lord like you said, He knew this was going to happen.

I'm pretty sure that things will be okay for the next 4-8 years although I understand your disappointment. Just think, by the time the next election rolls around you'll be able to vote. Politics will become more clear (and also more confusing) as you get older. Things are rarely black and white, right and wrong; it's usually shades of gray. If you are concerned, just pray for Obama and the members of Congress. He may not have been the perfect candidate but that doesn't mean that nothing good can come of it. It just might take more work.
And, Obama is a Christian. Not that it should matter...

Hi Ashley,
This is Bethany. I'm not annyomus, but I don't have a home school blog sooo..... if u get a comment from Bethany and Beau it is me. :)
Anyway, I know what you mean. I wish Obama wasn't president. I wanted McCain. I am TOTALLY against Abortion and Obama is for abortion and he is for a few other things I DO NOT agree with, but even if we don't like Obama (and I don't) we need to remember to pray for him and hope that he makes the right decisions for America. I hope I don't sound like some stupid adult. :) Write me an e-mail soon!

Ashley,
I can so relate to your feelings. I think some of the answers to why people vote for Barack is because as a rule the schools don't teach to be thankful for the freedoms that we have and that socialism is bad. At least 1 whole generation has lost it's moral structure and really can't tell the good from the bad. They don't seem to know any better. They actually think that socialism will work this time even though it's been tried again and again and NEVER worked.
Sad, I know! Who knows- Maybe the homeschoolers of today will be the next patriots and freedom fighters!

Don't worry, I know how you feel about Obama ;-) There's no grey area there! And I'm pretty opinionated too, so I might disagree with you but you won't hurt my feelings and I'll still love you!
I don't disagree with you that there are absolute right and wrongs, I just don't think that politics are always so cut-and-dried. I did vote for McCain but I don't think he was the "right" choice, I just disliked him the least. I disagreed with both of the candidates on many (maybe most?) of the issues. Politicians on all sides say whatever it takes to get elected. It's sad but true. I like to think that McCain would have done a good job in DC, but I don't know that for sure. I also don't know that Obama will be the worst Pres. ever. (I actually doubt that he will - we've had some really bad ones in the past!) Either way, we'll get to vote again in '12.
I'd encourage you to take a course in political science some time - I had one as a junior in high school and then again when I was a junior in college. It was one of my favorite classes (right up there with science!) and gives you background on our political system. The "hot topics" that you mentioned (babies and guns) shouldn't be up to the president at all in my opinion. They should be determined by each state. I find myself lining up with the Libertarian Party more - unfortunately they don't stand much of a chance in our current two party system. Maybe someday.
I'm not comfortable saying that someone isn't a Christian. It isn't my call to make. I don't know what goes through his head or heart. And, from my personal experience, Christian doesn't automatically = good. Sometimes it does, but definitely not always.

Nov. 7, 2008 - Obama Christian?
Posted by canadianladybug
??? I don't know for sure about this one... Yes he was going to a church and somehow his pastor kicked him out didn't he?
We are on the other side of the border but we follow US politics as much as our own. And from what we can understand the new president elect is in favor of gay marriages and abortion. Hey I'm not saying he isn't christian since I don't know about his view on God but it disturb me that a christian would be in favor of gay marriage and abortion...
Everyone needs to pray for the new president and his staff. We know we will!
