Tue 9 Sep 2008 - Several Things Today...
I prefer to post a one-time update than 3 separate ones for today. I think I have drained so much energy after bringing the children to their swimming lessons and then went straight to spinning bike in the gym...
Busy week still, so let me just enumerate the highlights of the day:
1. The Biblical Worldview Program from Summit.org has arrived. Building On The Rock is for Level 5 and follows a spiral learning method. So I am quite confident to start this new curriculum without going through Levels 1-4 of the Homeschool Program. There are unit reviews for each level and then a strong focus on Level 5. It requires very little preparation so we will probably start tomorrow after have watched the Training DVD for Teachers. The process of developing a mature biblical worldview for the children also paved the way for me to assess my own biblical perspective of various topics on history, science, math and current world events. I realize that as I teach them this, I'd be learning a lot, too. It is an ongoing process for all of us.
2. So far our second week is running smoothly, we did not tackle all subjects right away when we started last week in account of too many rehearsal hours taken away from our homeschool time. Last week, we started with Bible, Science, History, Geography, Math and Language Arts. Since yesterday, we have started a new read-aloud and writing lessons - IEW for Fuzzy and Suzy's Writing Corner for Vibrant Bea.
3. The swimming instructor told me that Li'l Ruffin steps up next month to Toddler 2 Level. She is so happy to know that she is being promoted already. Vibrant Bea and Fuzzy are doing Level 2 and will start Level 3 by year end. 4. Days Eight and Nine of 30 Days of Prayer for the Muslim World.
Day Eight Division in Ghana
Day Nine Muslims in Hong Kong |
