A shipper came today to take a survey of how much stuff we are going to ship to Cairo. I realized we haven't accumulated much since we came here. And since two of our tall bulky bookshelves, a computer and pc table, and a round table will be left with a friend and a church anyway, we still have a lot of room for a dining set, so he says. But we have not really decided on buying a dining set now. Perhaps, we might.
We were told by my husband's employer that there are three shippers coming to bid this week. So, it seems that I have to set aside three different meetings at home with these bidders to show them around and what wealth I have to stash away to Cairo, if there are any, in a medium-sized container. Whoa! And they are supposed to come during our homeschool time.. not a very bright idea, at least to me.
It turned out that there is only one local shipper contacted by three different companies in the US to do the work for them. These three US companies will supposedly bid on our shipment package. Isn't it funny yet amazing that their eyes were set on a single company among many others? This local company is the sure winner. Impressive, huh? Seems like there is no competition and which also means, I don't have to entertain 3 times a shipper this week after all. Simply impressive!
Well, it is worth mentioning that this company was established in 1878...They have been shipping a lot of the British and other foreigner's stuff and perhaps, gems and ivory (I am speculating here) long before Ceylon became Sri Lanka. And guess what is on their flyer. It says "Take the weight of your mind... Creasy's, The name that carries the weight." Can anything be better than that?
And they are not only into freight forwarding. They are into other big businesses as mentioned in their profile.
So I trust that this company will deliver our things safely on the shores of Egypt early next year.
Believe me, this is a shameless unpaid plug. Since this is my blog, who dares complain? But as I said, I am rather impressed.
