Book "wild" release, take two
Hmmmm. We are trying this again. Waited for a week but we got no entry. Well, they say not all books found could get a journal entry. Maybe, the first one is just one of those. Maybe, the second one will find a better "finder"... we'll see.
And so again, after the worship service, off we went to the place where we released our first book. This time on one of the tables at Delifrance in Odel. Since we were having lunch there, we might as well release a book there, too. For this second wil release, we chose Around the World in Eighty Days by Jules Verne, a well-loved book that we even have two copies of it. We were wishing that it will really have 80 days to go around the world! And it is exciting to see where the book will be traveling in the journal entries it will reap. What a dream!
Anyway, it was easier now since no one ran after us because we have left a book - it was funny and frustrating the first time. I think some bookcrossers in this city leave books there so it might not be so unusual. Well, we just have to wait now if a journal entry comes out from this. We just hope...we just hope. I will keep you posted or maybe just drop by our bookshelf and look for the book title at Traveling Section.

Our first wild release..
For over two weeks, we were registering books with bookcrossing.com and yesterday we decided to release one of our books after the church service. The choice spot is the Kids Section at Odel Department store. This book is The Twenty One Balloons by William Pene de Bois. It is a Newbery Medal Book. We have 2 copies of this so we just thought another kid would enjoy this book as much as we did.
We tried to leave it on the seat but the sales person came right up to say we forgot something so we just told her that we are leaving it for someone to pick it up. She did not get it and she was about to put it away. So, I hurriedly got it from her and thrusted it to the hearest kid I saw (well, a boy about the same age as my boy). Whew! The parent was suspicious but we just said it is a free book. Anyway, we hope the kid will read it and hopefully, get to make an journal entry(JE), of course, under the parent's supervision. If not, it's fine.. we might get our first JE in other books we are planning to set free.
It was a fun experience though as a family to be doing something like these we have never done before. AND, we look forward to doing this more often. So watch out. |
