A special virtual conference...
Have you attended a homeschool virtual seminar before? I have and it was most helpful for me at the time I was almost out of my wits. The Charlotte Mason for the 21st Century Virtual Seminar hosted by Cindy Rushton with guest speakers Jim and Sheila Carroll (Living Books Curriculum) was really a fantastic learning experience.
The amazing thing about living in a small island tucked away in the western most part of Indian Ocean is that it isn't so isolated anymore. With just a few adjustments on waking and sleeping hours (well, I admit it was like having a mild jet lag after that LOL! ), a good computer, a reliable internet connection AND best of all, a teachable heart, I tell you it is all worth it and you don't even have to leave the comforts of your home.
Don't despair! If you have missed that one, you still have a chance to catch her at the next virtual seminar! Cindy is cooking up something special for homeschooling families and I want to share it with you. Below is Cindy Rushton's banner for the upcoming seminar and you might want to check it out. Cindy Rushton is a seasoned Christian homeschool mom. She taught her 2 children, Matthew and Elisabeth, at home. Matthew has already graduated from homeschooling and joined the military.
All of the topics are really helpful and full of encouragement. I have benefited greatly from the workshops.
She has great line-up of topics and speakers coming up. You shouldn't miss this.

Mystery of History and I just joined Homeschool Launch!
I have been making notebook pages and some stuff which my older children use for their written narration. These are kept away neatly afterwards in big binders with their lapbooks and other works. Just recently, I have come across this site where homeschooling parents can upload their own works to share with other homeschooling families. I have just joined it and uploaded several of the notebook pages I made.
The site is called Homeschool Launch . This is a great homeschool sharing platform for home educators. Currently it has 501 members, 360 files and 72520 downloads and still growing. Isn't that fantastic? More are added to it daily. You can find worksheets, notebooks pages, lapbook minibooks, activity pages, etc in just about any subject or topic you need to supplement or use with your children's learning. You can download the files free in pdf format (and doc too in some files). So drop by there and check it out. You are welcome to join too if you have your own files in your hard drive that you wish to share with others. If none, you are welcome as well.
Do check out my page at Homeschool Launch. It is of course dubbed samutsari . I have uploaded some new notebook pages in Ancient Greek History, which we are now using in conjunction with our study of World History (Mystery of History by Linda Hobar). A historically accurate, Bible-centred study of ancient history. It is classical, chronological, and complete. We have easily applied CM methods in using this excellent book. The lessons are short, we read it aloud and we have a narration after each lesson read. Then we write the narration on notebook pages. At the end of the week, we make the memory cards, do some map activities where the events took place and add figures I have printed out to our timeline on the wall. We are also setting up our Century Book. We are approaching the last part of this book and about to start Mystery of History 2. The children are enjoying it because the lessons are well-written. It also helped them tie-up events in history and what is taking place at the same time in biblical history. MOH is a tapestry of how the world events unfolded and how God sought to reveal Himself to Man in the events that took place since the beginning of time.
Communities like Homeschool Launch is a demonstration of how the dynamic the homeschool movement is. It is growing, alive, active in helping and supporting each other. There is plenty of creativity and "good old wisdom" from veterans being passed around. Take this blogging site, the Homeschoolblogger.com , isn't it amazing to see how many homeschooling families are there now around the globe? And this I believe just represents the tip of the iceberg (mostly from the US, UK, Australia and Canada) . I am sure the numbers are more than that. I also believe that more communities like this will dot the internet maps in the next months or years to come. Do you believe in that? Coz, I do.
