Jocelyn Dixon was right!

It is a moth!

A Carolina sphinx. :)



My Dad found this moth at his work and he brought it home in two styrofoam cups. We dumped it in to a gallon jar, it landed on the bottom of the jar. My Mom looked up the moth on the internet, and found it to be a "Carolina Sphinx Moth". As a caterpillar this moth was a "Tobacco" or "Tomato Horn Worm." The night we captured the moth we set it on our dining room table, the room was pretty dark. I past or came in to the dining room and saw it was flying about! Here is a picture. The lighting was not good for the action setting, so the flash makes it a little hard to see.



We let the moth go the next day. :)

I have been struggling a little bit lately. My mom found this verse in the letter that Paul wrote to the Romans. I found the following very encouraging.

"I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate. Now if I do what I do not want, I agree with the law, that it is good. So now it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me. For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out. For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing."
