Our homeschool journey began 2 years ago. I had sent my oldest son to public school for his pre-k, kindergarten, and 1st grade year. I used to get notes from the teachers almost daily saying he was talking too much and acting rowdy. What 6 year old boy isn't rowdy. When I asked him about the talking he said he was just asking questions. Public school teachers do not have time to answer 30 kids questions so he started falling behind in school. I did alot of praying and research and I decided to that since I was spending so much time at the school and the teachers obviously didn't care if he got it or not. The best thing I could do was bring him home where he belongs. This past year was our first year and what a blessing it was. I now know why I couldn't decide what kind of career that I wanted to pursue when I graduated. God already chose my career. I feel that I am fulfilling my calling from God. I'm just sorry that it took 3 years of public school to figure it out. We are eclectic homeschoolers. We use whatever works. This year I'm also going to begin schooling our 4 year old. He is so excited about it. Sometimes I still feel like I'm not able to teach them like they need to be taught but I know that's just the devil telling me that. My children are right where they belong. At home, right where God wants them to be. |
