Aug. 1, 2007 - Homeschool Open house/ Our Homeschool Journey

Tiany over at Less of Me~More of Him is hosting a HomeSchool Open House.  Be sure to check it out!

Our homeschool journey began 2 years ago.  I had sent my oldest son to public school for his pre-k, kindergarten, and 1st grade year.  I used to get notes from the teachers almost daily saying he was talking too much and acting rowdy.  What 6 year old boy isn't rowdy.  When I asked him about the talking he said he was just asking questions.  Public school teachers do not have time to answer 30 kids questions so he started falling behind in school. I did alot of praying and research and I decided to that since I was spending so much time at the school and the teachers obviously didn't care if he got it or not.  The best thing I could do was bring him home where he belongs.  This past year was our first year and what a blessing it was.  I now know why I couldn't decide what kind of career that I wanted to pursue when I graduated.  God already chose my career.  I feel that I am fulfilling my calling from God.  I'm just sorry that it took 3 years of public school to figure it out.  We are eclectic homeschoolers.  We use whatever works.  This year I'm also going to begin schooling our 4 year old.  He is so excited about it.  Sometimes I still feel like I'm not able to teach them like they need to be taught but I know that's just the devil telling me that.  My children are right where they belong.  At home, right where God wants them to be.

I am so glad you are enjoying homeschooling! I was nervous too at first, but really God gives us what we need to do His will, doesn't He! :) Have a blessed year with both your boys!

This is exactly the reason that I homeschool my son. I knew that this is what we would encounter in public school. Good luck homeschooling your boys! Have fun!!!

I'm so glad that you brought him home where he belongs before too much damage was done! Let that boy run, and ask, and explore to his little soul's content!

Momma, who also has a few boys!

Good luck with your year.

You might want to change your font color. It was really hard to read and I had to highlight the words to see what they said, then when I did that it appears that your line size is off and the bottom of the words are cut off.

Ignore what I said about the line height thing, apparently that was due to me highlighting the text for readability. Thanks again for sharing with us!

Wow, I too sent my son to public school for 4k, 5k, and he's in 1st grade now! My daughter is in 4k, also. We are going to begin our homeschool adventure this coming year! We would have started this year, but I had a little freak out and put them in public school. I had done a "trial run" over the summer and everything! *sigh* Live and Learn, right! Thanks for sharing!
