In Need of His Grace

tears, laughter, and aftershave...???

Joey was maybe 3 weeks old or so. we had gone to the bx for some shopping and to get out of the house. one of the things on Joe's list was "after shave". so we're in the isle, taking turns smelling the different scents. which apparantly for my Joe means, taking off the cap, closing eyes, taking in a deep whiff, then giving the verdict.

well, this one day he took off the cap, closed his eyes, SQUEEZED the bottle while SIMULTANEOUSLY INHALING a BIG "whiff" of the juice...can you guess what happens?? i was busy looking at something else and all the sudden hear *cough cough* *chock choooooooke...wheeze wheezing *cough sputter CHOKE *GASP* GAAaaaaSP!!!*....tears.... tears on both his end and my end! i was trying so hard not to laugh or question him (such as, what can i do? what do you need? what happened?) because in situations like that he gets overwhelmed and will respond with "don't talk to me!! HELP me!!" so i'm stifling my intense laughter at him INHALING the  aftershave through his nose while also trying to find burp coths, receiving blankets, ANYTHING close enough to give him...besides it trickling out his nose and mouth, he spilled it on his shirt and all over the isle floor from jumping back 5 feet in shock and horror of feeling it go up his sinuses!!!shocked laugh

we weren't done shoping, but we left right then and there...standing in checkout line with Joe smelling INTENSELY of the aftershave (which we ended up buying since at least 3 ounces of it was gone now, 2 of which Joe was wearing on his person in one form or another) with him drinking, no, guzzling my bottled water...once we got to the parking lot i hilariously cracked up while he began snorting that bottled water...poor guy!! sad

to this day imitating the sounds he made while choking on aftershave is the best fight "diffuser" we have lol!laughwink

I have wanted to blog this for a long time, but have been trying to find the perfect ways to describ the sounds he made that day...finally i just resigned that some sounds just can not be immitated with words or jumbled letters...so alas, i just did the best i could. *winks*

About Me

I'm new at this, learning as I teach, teaching as I learn. I am mommy to 4 kiddos: Julia age 7, Megan age 6, Joey age 2, and Charlotte age 10 months. Our homeschool style is Eclectic at best, but gives stability to a family living overseas. I am always open to new ideas and ways to do things and enjoy the encouragement of others doing the same. Boring intro I know, but covers the basics me thinks. ;) Oh, and the picture above? It was from one of our very first homeschooling days in 2005. We let our two eldest kiddos (then 2 and 3 years old) fingerpaint with shaving cream on the dining table. It was lots of fun, and it left a super shiny table and a nice aloe scent to boot! ;)
