October 10, 2006
We had a late start. After breakfast and morning routine we read our Bible story and had a prayer time. Then we did our Brain Gym Activities.
- We walked in a figure 8s. After about 10 laps, we changed directions and marched in figure 8s the other way.
- We did Scissor Walks. They are like Criss Crosses, but with straight arms and legs. It was just a derivative of criss crosses.
- 10 swallows of water.
- Body Scales. Playing up and down the piano (skipping a note each time). If we start with a high note, we start with tapping our head, then as the notes get lower, we tap lower on the body (head, shoulder, chest, tummy, hips, knees, toes). I go up and down a little in the middles and they have to hear the change and change direction of tapping.)
- Figure 8s with big arms.
- Water.
After Brain Gym it was spelling time. I gave Connor and Gavin their spelling test. Ki choose 10 word cards to use for sentences and write in a list. It was his idea to write the sentences. He loves writing sentences. I am so happy!
Then I went over the Brain Gym chart with Gavin and Connor. I told them they were in charge of doing the different Brian Gyms before each thing.
I sent them on their way and Ki choose math Timed test off his list. I tried doing arm extensions with him, but he couldn’t do them. I got upset. He acts like such a hyper baby. I know that’s not nice to say, but he does and at least I can say it here, I guess.
**Note to Self- Ki is not ready for arm extensions, so don’t bother doing them. We both get frustrated. It’s not worth it. Maybe we can do something different. Plus with his arm in a cast…. I was just being crazy!**
Ki choose a Word of the Week. Battle Armor. I guess that is two words; one of those compound words that are written as 2? I’m not sure. He chose “Word Memory Match” for his game today. Then we drew a picture of his new word.
Connor did not finish last week’s science, so he is working to finish it and start on this week’s science. He has 6 pages in his notebook packet to do. He is a slow worker. He is a very slow writer.
Ki choose to do reading next, so we did some butterfly 8s and eye tracking before he started. CrissCrosses are hard for him with his cast one, so I am not insisting on too much diligence of doing them.
We took a 15 minute break. After that we got water to drink and a bowl of Pita Chips to munch while doing some more work (oral stimulation). Ki worked on his 3rd grade scholar, Connor did more science and Gavin did his math placement test for today.
Then it was LUNCH TIME.
Connor is shooting squirrels with his ‘bow and arrow’. A bend stick with a bungee cord and another stick to be the arrow.
