Wow, where do I begin?? March was a busy month for us!! Ok, let me start by dates..... First and foremost, Mark and I celebrated our 15th year anniversary!!
And a current photo of the happy couple...taken Easter 2009
Not only have our love for each other grown, it appears so did our waist line!! hehe And we picked up the keys to our new home on our anniversary! What a way to celebrate our anniversary!! Yes, we "closed" on our anniversary!! Take about the best anniversary gift ever!!
We decided to take a few weeks off from textbook learning and give the kids a class in carpentry skills. ...kinda a hands on learning.....We had a great time working together as a family putting together this massive swing set/play house. But, by the end, each child knew the difference between a wood screw, hex screw, washer and bolt screw. They also knew what size of boards to look for depending on the photo directions. The following pictures are of the process.... Leo bringing boards....and laying them in place to begin the bottom deck
Working on the bottom deck...
Garrett working on the picnic table..
Working on the top deck.
Now that the top deck is finished, it's time to start the club house. (this is one of my favorite pictures)
Aundrea taking a few minutes to pose ...
Ok, the boys want in on the picture
So, after working on this project for over 2 weeks, we finally got the swings up!
And the finished project!!
While not working on the swingset, Garrett put the sealer on the fence....watching him work reminded me of the popular 80's movie The Karate Kid..."wax on, wax off"....and the funniest part, Garrett used to take Tae Kwon Do lessons.....by the way, he did an awesome job on the fence!!
Well, while working on the fence, he peeked over the fence and what did he see....deer!! Yip, you know you are in the country when you see deer in your backyard!! (more deer pictures later)
This Easter was special! We were able to celebrate with family (did I mention how much we love being back home!). Our Easter dinner was not your typical Easter dinner with ham and the trimmings....no, we had a Mexican style Easter cookout....complete with homemade tortillas...my favorite...I must add that I did not make them.....actually Mark's cousin made them for us....which I am forever grateful....try not to droll!
The wonderful cook (I"m so lucky)
The family-
Well, no Easter celebration in South Texas is complete without confetti eggs...
So, after we showered each other with confetti, it was time for the pinata-we have ourselves a future baseball player in our family.......
And now, Garrett's turn...Aundrea was too smart...she just sit back and waited for candy!
So, what do you do after you bash the pinata for candy??? Well, you put it on your head and act like a monster of course! Leave it to Leo to come up with this...yes, complete with monster noises!!
It doesnt' matter where you live or how you celebrate Easter but no Easter is complete without dying the eggs!
And their finished projects...
Mama and her babies...
I believe this concludes the Easter pictures. We had a wonderful time celebrating Easter with family. Now, as promised, more deer pictures. On the other side of our fence is a creek. Every evening, like clockwork the deer will come to the creek for a drink. Usually we see 3-4 but last night we saw 7! These pictures were taken last night.
Ok, so let me see....anniversary, house, projects around the house, Easter and deer, I believe this is all for the updates. As you can tell, we had a busy March-April. And, pssst, we are about to celebrate a birthday next week...wonder who?? Before I forget, I had to add these pictures of our crazy cat. Last night while we were watching our weekly dose of American Idol, this is how Jaguar was sleeping. I told you he was a crazy cat.
And here he is being normal.
