Did I say before that I think I overdid it on my tomatoes in the garden? Now I'm quite sure of it! They're all growing intertwined together with one another and the tomatillos (which are also working hard to take over as much space as possible).

But on the up side, my basil has done better than ever this year because I planted it in between tomato plants. It has been shaded from our most drastic heat and hasn't bolted early.

And as of now, there are no little "flakes" in our local weather forecast and the low number for tonight is around 40. I think the green tomatoes and tomatillos will be OK after all! (But I may still pull a few to expose my kids to fried green tom's this evening anyway.)

My husband loves fried green tomatoes! We just got our fall garden underway recently. We're hoping our tomatoes (San Marzano and beefstake) and basil (genovese and sweet) do well along with everything else we've planted.

Mmmm... Tomatoes! I look forward to grooming my garden in the spring now that I am cast free. What are you going to do with all those tomatoes?

Go Rockies! Have a great night.

Fried green tomatoes - yummy! My tomatoes burned up! I didn't realize just how hot it gets out here! I am going to plant some fall ones and see how it goes. It sounds like your garden did really well. Way to go!

Sounds like you will have tomatoes for a while to enjoy. We are still getting them down this way cause we are keeping them watered but still not enough to can.
