First, let me apologize for not being "organized" enough to get this up first thing this morning! My hubby was on a business trip yesterday, and by the end of the day I was too wiped out to remember what day it was - let alone that I should be getting my "Organized Thursday" blog entry ready to go!
So today's theme is the Laundry! It can be such a difficult thing to get under control. I've heard of systems ranging from doing a load every day to letting it all pile up and having one huge Laundry Day to get it all done. I've tried all kind of things over the years. I don't like the feeling of having to do laundry every day, but one day a week for all the laundry is too much for me. So here's the system I've fallen into in the last few months, and it seems to be working:
Monday: Wash my clothes (and hubby's) - 2 loads
Tuesday: Wash towels - 1 load
Wednesday: Kids sort their own laundry and I wash it - 2 loads
Thursday: Kids put away their own laundry. We all strip the beds & I wash sheets - 1 load
I have to get the laundry sorted and ready to go first thing in the morning. If I throw in a load before breakfast, then it's ready to go into the dryer about the time we take our first morning break from schoolwork.
Since I don't use bleach, I'm able to get away with doing clothes in 2 loads - one dark colors and one light colors. (Instead of bleach I use a tea tree oil-based disinfecting product.)
Now it's your turn! Tell me how you keep those piles and piles of laundry under control. What matters is what works for you!
