• Oct. 27, 2008 - An Ode on Autumn's First Hard Freeze

Posted in gardening

The roses are dead;

The cornstalks are dried.

Everything left in my garden looks fried.

However, this entry would not be complete without a tribute to my most amazing husband. While I was out of town visiting my parents for the last 2 weeks, he finished out our harvest. All that's left dead in the garden is one cucumber, a bunch of tiny tomatillos, and a handful of green tomatoes. Not bad. And I bundled up some of the dried cornstalks to decorate my front porch today, so all that's left is to pull out the dead plants and put away the fences, stakes & towers until next spring.

And to make some pickles, relish and salsa to enjoy until next harvest!

You know, you can always come to CA and harvest all year round. We're still having 90 degree weather!!!

It's dry around here, but only for lack of rain. The weather is getting warmer and warmer. Hope all is well. I went through and read lots of posts. Had a hard time loading your page for a while with the new template and our slow Internet.

I thought you might like this awesome new movie! It is called Come What May! It supports the fight for life, inspires the Godly marriage and encourages purity. You can even veiw it free today and tomorrow yet! It is so worth the time. I am trying to get the word out before everyone goes to vote, too!
It was made by over 40 homeschoolers! Way to go homeschoolers! A+
