Homeschooling Our 4 Blessings

Oct. 3, 2006 - Our Read Aloud

Our family always has a book going that we

read aloud. I usually read it during lunch, tea

time, or in the evenings. I had started the book

Five Little Peppers and How They Grew. We were

all loving this book until it disappeared. It has

been gone for a couple of weeks now. I am so

diappointed. I guess I can just buy another one,

but I know that as soon as I do the original one

will turn up. Maybe??? I have looked everywhere

for that book!!!! So, since we haven't been able to

find that book we decided to start another book. I

picked Caddie Woodlawn by Carol Ryrie Brink.

We are loving this one too. I'm not letting this one

get out of my sight. Our family has always

enjoyed books that are set in the 1800's. I love the

simplicity of the time and the family closeness. The

Little House books have been a favorite of ours

also. Oh! To be Ma and Pa and live on the

prarie!!!! I can dream.

Blessings,

Jenn

Dec. 26, 2006 - Missing Books
Posted by Anonymous
Hi there :) I signed-up tonight, but the email I need to logon correctly isn't getting through yet. My username is supposed to be JacciM. Anyway, I lost a read aloud we were right in the middle of, too! I couldn't find it for 2 weeks! I even called the library, thinking maybe I accidentally "returned" it. Anyway, one afternoon I looked over at my 2 yo sitting quietly in a recliner with a book. It was THE book!! "Where did you get that?", I immediately asked. She was startled and confused, lol, poor thing - but so was I! It turns out that she had hidden the book under the pillow top backing of the recliner. I've found it there twice since :)

Hi. I'm Gingerbread from Palermo, Maine and I saw your blog on the Charlotte Mason list. I to enjoy the Little House series. I even made some dresses from that era. I am new and I have a few questions about the C.M. method. Would you mind?
