Lynette Darkness Falls Another Strange Visitor The Message and the Messenger
-------------------------------------------------------------
|
Julia was restless. Her mind kept straying back to the way Robin had acted earlier in the day. She didn’t understand it, none of the Wolves did.
The Titans had discovered that Robin's archenemy, Slade, was back. Whenever Slade was mentioned Robin got a strange look in his eyes (she could tell even though he had a mask). I’ll have to ask him about that tomorrow.
After a few minutes more of trying to sleep, Julia finally gave up. She quickly changed into her Wolf costume, went over to the window and got out onto the roof. After closing the window, she gracefully jumped to the ground. She pushed a button on her utility belt that called her Wolf Board. Within seconds the board reached her and she got on and headed for Titans Tower.
As she was on her way there she thought about her time with the Titans so far. She and the other Wolves had only been official Titans for a week. The other Titans had been working on making three rooms for their newest members, but they weren’t quite finished yet. But it didn’t matter to her, she couldn’t sleep there anyways, for her parents would get suspicious. That’s something I don’t need, she thought.
When she finally got to the Tower, she was surprised to find Grey Wolf outside it. He was running around in circles in his wolf form. Is he chasing his tail? She shook her head at her silly friend.
As she landed Grey Wolf collapsed onto his left side, panting heavily. When he noticed Wolf Woman, he changed into his human form, “I don’t know how dogs can do this all the time! Chasing my tail wiped me out!”
She smiled and sat next to her friend, “Guess you’ll just have to practice.”
“You’re making fun of me!”
“Maybe.”
“Maybe you’re just jealous of me, huh?” He said jokingly, “Bet you can’t do this:” he transformed into a wolf again and he gave out a long, haunting howl.
Julia remembered back to when the black alpha wolf heard her singing and howled for her. She remembered his beautiful voice as clearly as if it had happened five minutes ago. When Grey Wolf was done she said, “Give me a minute.” She concentrated hard and then gave her best wolf-howl, basing it off of the alpha wolf’s howl.
When she was done, Grey Wolf turned back to his normal self, “Pretty good for a human,” he complimented.
“Thank-you.”
Just then, White Wolf ran up to them. “Guys!”
“What is it, White Wolf?” Grey Wolf asked.
“Yeah, what’s wrong?”
“Do you remember when the Bat-mobile was hi-jacked and we all went chasing after it?”
“How could we forget?” Grey Wolf groaned.
“Yeah, especially since the one who did it was younger than us.”
“And then there was that girl that stopped him,” Grey Wolf continued, “The one in what looked like a bounty-hunter’s suit.”
White Wolf nodded, “The two of them were using some sort of communication device, and while we were chasing after the Bat-mobile I got the signal on my Wolf Computer in my left glove.”
“Sweet.” Grey Wolf said.
“Yeah, well I just picked up it’s signal nearby!”
“So one of them-”
“-Or both.” Grey Wolf interrupted.
“-is nearby?” Wolf Woman finished her question.
“Unless my computer is malfunctioning, yes."
