Welcome to 4dfarms
Mar. 29, 2008 - Yippie Yi Yo Goat wrestling!!!!!!!!!!!
Yesterday was a good day. I helped my mother in law till her whole garden while the boys helped her in the flower bed. Then we loaded up the tiller and came home to till my garden spot. Mine is a whole lot bigger than hers and I went through it twice. We planted 4 rows of potatoes, half row of onions, other half garlic. The boys were having a time playing baseball with the potatoes and then putting them into the rows. Then they decide to take off socks and shoes and run barefoot through my garden. It felt good to their feet. All this took about 3 to 4 hrs. Then we came inside to eat and take showers. Then we did school. Dakota's feet and mine were killing me. I could not move today. I am so sore. That night Dallas prayed over our garden (he does this every year and we have more that we can store). I have no doubt it will do good.
Today was a great learning exp. I went down to the barn this morning and Cocoa was not wanting to walk. We have noticed this for a few days but I thought she was imitating Tisha, she does this all the time. Then she was crawling on her haunches so I picked up one of her hooves and low and behold they were hurting because they were grown out too far. You have to keep a goats hooves trimmed. I felt so awful. I called Dakota down to the barn to help me. We started to hold her and work on them, but they were so bad she didnt want me to touch them. We wrestle with her for a while. Finally I told Dakota were going to have to do this the hard way. We had to literally wrestle her down to the barn floor and get her on her side and we strattle her and have to lay on her. Dakota was kicked in the shoulder and butted in the head but he was hanging on for dear life. We were rolled around in poop and smelled really fragrant. I start trimming and praying I dont hurt her anymore than she already was. After 3 hrs later task completed. I thought my legs were paralyzed I could not feel them from holding that position for so long. Then we let her up and it took a while for the soreness to go away. She finally came to me and put her head on my shoulder and licked me. She knew I was only doing what was best for her and that we were helping her. Later we went back down to check on her and she was up walking around. I am so thankful. I had no idea they had gotten so bad. I just trimmed them not too long ago. I will have to keep a closer watch. Dakota has learned devotion and dedication and responsibility to animals. My boys probably know more about agriculture and livestock than most kids their age does. My boys even know how to administer shots. I dont let them, because Im even nervous to do it. Dallas has learned alot. He is really watching their chicks. They are starting to get their big girl feathers. I believe they are going to be brown. We did school tonight since we had adventurous morning. We sit and listened to the Bible story of the crucifixion. After school we speed cleaned the house. Me and Dallas took care of the kitchen, Dakota vacuumed and then we folded and put away clothes. Now they are watching a movie that is well deserved.
We have had and exhausting few days. But it will be well worth it. Alot goes on here at 4D Farms. Hope you all enjoy hearing about it. |
