Apr. 18, 2008 - Goats decided we didnt need phone service

Sorry I havent posted in a while, its because our girls decided we didnt need phone service anymore I guess. You see, I let them out to browse one day after so much rain and they got underneath the house where we havent finished underpinning yet and Cocoa got caught up in the telephone wire and jerked it plum out of the box and out from underneath the house. We spent a few days running new wire and hooking it back up to the box. Now were back up and running. David told me to spank her, (of course he was just rambling) I told him its not like she said "Oh, heres a wire, let me just get caught up in it."
Tisha is due in a few weeks, cant wait. Im having trouble getting them up on the milk stand to do grooming, theyve never been on one before. They look at it like, "And you want me to do what?"
The chicks are looking so growny now. Beautiful color. Weve got the materials to build our coop, but so many projects, so little time.
I have worked since Monday getting my garden ready before we were expecting rain. I tilled it up again, went and got some cabbage, cauliflower, and lettuce. I thought I got broccilli too but I grabbed too many cabbage plants. SO I gave my MIL them and went back and got the brocc. I froze my tail off out there getting this stuff in the ground. But I have 18 broccilli plants, 18 cauliflower, 10 cabbage(5 of them red), onions, garlic, sugar snap peas, radishes, lettuce, spinach, peppers potatoes, and carrots. In May I will finish with squash, zucchini, sweet pot., corn, green beans, purple hull peas, and tomatoes. No cucumbers this year, cause I still have pickles from last year. Good! I have a big spot that I fight with the deer over. So far I think Im winning. I spray all my plants with vinegar, cause the deer doesnt like anything nasty smelling. Gotcha! I guess well see in a few more weeks.
We only have 27 lessons left. Right now in History we are studying WWI and WW2. Boy how confusing. I think Im gettin the hang of it. I could ask my Papa about WW2 but it brings back nightmares for him still to this day.
Weve got Suzie a temp. kennel built, she will get to come home for a few weeks this month for a rest period, before she completes her training. We are going to get another puppy lab in several weeks when it is weaned. She will be trained too and be a companion for Suzie.  We will have Suzie bred next year. She is doing so well in her training and already has a title on her pedigree.
We got some rain today and I hope it didnt drown all my stuff I planted. Maybe not.
Tomorrow our official baseball season starts. Games and pictures. Dakota is doing really well at hindcatcher. He enjoys it alot. Dallas is getting better. Him and Dakota got outside and pitched the balls and he is catching so well. Dakota is teaching him how to pitch too. Thats great, he may make a pitcher on his team when he gets to kid pitch.
Dallas loves to work with numbers, he is always asking what is this plus this or this and this put together. Ill have my hands full this next school year. Both will be after me. Ill really have to learn how to shedule our days. My house is a wreck this week cause weve had some hard days. Dakota had to do alot of independent work this week so I could get the garden in. Alot of it he got behind on just cause he forgot the instructions I set out for him.
Well catch up on cleaning.
Just a few more projects to do before the kid gets here. we have to put in a kidding stall so it doesnt get hurt but the bigger girls. Cocoa has chickie sitted the past few days. I let them down out of the loft of the barn where they were warm. and let them get some sunshine and fresh air. Cocoa has set beside them just watching them.
Today I had to go into the rain and feed, and close on of the barn doors. Cocoa did not want to go through a little bit of water to get back into the warm dry barn, so I had to literally pull her into the barn. Boy is she heavy. Stubborn thing. When we finally did get her in and close the door. she thanked me with a kiss on the cheek.
Well I guess that all for this post, hope you enjoyed it.
Have a blessed day in the Lord Sunday.
