Welcome to 4dfarms
Apr. 28, 2008 - Hen Hustling and more adventures on 4dfarms

Well alot has happened on the farm this weekend. Thursday our great niece came and spent the night with us. She is 16 mths old. We affectionately call her sister baby for Dallas. She loves these boys and they dote on her. Im still trying to find my phone that I mistakenly let her play with. I cant call it to chase the ring, because I turned it off so she wouldnt call anyone. I have looked in every crack and cranny, under and in furniture, under appliances in cabinets, in shoes. You know all the places that you dont normally look, plus some. Oh well Ill find it one day. That night Dakota had a ball game and they did a good job. Friday morning I had a doctors appt. that should have only took an hour at the most turned into 3 hours Then I had to go get a presc. filled. David was with the kids until he got called to Memphis. He took them to MIL house. I finally get to pick them up. I find out that one of the hens got loose in the woods. HERE WE GO AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!! Me and the boys go out and chase her a little while, can you say or scream three hours through briars, poison oak and fences.  Dakota finally gives up and I told them to go into the house and get something to drink cause they were looking kind of pale and hot. After another 30 minutes shes finally wore out and thirsty and gets close to the coop and I open the door and she goes in, while I spat her little bottom on the way in. Im exhausted by this time and about to die of heat and thirst myself. I was really weak when I got in cause its way after lunch by this time. We get home and finish school and clean a little before we got to Dallas ballgame.
The score is 24 to 16, we won. That is awesome for 5 and 6 yr olds.
Saturday morning we get up and get ready for 5 and 6 yr old Invitational tournaments all day. We win our first game but the team we were to play next did not win so that knocked us out too. Im kind of glad cause these kids were hot and hungry. After the game we went to BK to eat and cool off. We got home and we rested. The boys cousin came and spent the night. After we rested we got outside and worked. Weve just about got the kidding pin ready in the barn for the baby. We just lack getting to slats on and the gate on hindges. We will finish Friday when daddy gets back home. Baby should be born Saturday or Sunday. I hope it is Sat. because I really want to be here and we have no games scheduled. If not Saturday, I havent made up my mind if we will sleep in the barn that night or not. Dakota wants to. I think it will be fun. But after being midwife all night, I dont want to fall asleep in church either. She is already leaking milk. She squirted me good the other day when she lifter her leg to scratch. It was like a machine gun shootin. It was funny. Shes still touchy, but when it comes time she will get more affectionate towards me. Yea right!!!!!!!!!!! Cocoa is still having trouble with her hooves. A boy from church is going to come over tomorrow after school and help me with her. He has show goats and he knows how to trim properly. Chicks are just growing so well. Week after nest we will start on the coop.
Our garden is doing good. Dallas is all excited about the potatoes coming up. So far Ive managed to keep the deer out. All Ive got left to plant is squash, zucc., sweet potatoes, peas, corn and green beans. Ive got one more trellis to put up for the beans. I can do that myself, since David showed me how.
Yesterday we had Friend Day at church, but we didnt get to play ball cause it was rainy. We did still manage to get party jumpers in the life center. After that we went to MS to take Hunter home and see my parents. I brought home my PaPas tiller that they use to use. It is antique and we were able to get it running. To bad today is a clean house day, Im looking forward to running it. Tomorrow is an outside day. Ive got to get the barn ready for baby this week. We were able to get alot of projects done this week. However there have been days when I couldnt move the next day especially after hen hustling for three hrs one day. Ive got to learn to pace myself. I just cant sit still. I get bored. Its gonna be one busy Summer.
Me and Dakota are both sick today, Im letting him sleep in a little cause he felt awful yesterday at church. We dont know where this cold came from But we are taking our homemade remedy. I even gave it to alady at church who has battled with this for 2 mths and 3 trips to the dr, and 3 rounds of antibiotics. She told me yesterday she wish she would have known about this before. Its breaking all of it up. Im so glad I could help someone else for a change. I couldnt sing in the choir cause I had no voice. Oh well. This too shall pass.
Ive got to start my day now and clean house and do my farm chores. and go check on my patient.
Everyone have a good day in the Lord. Just email me until I find my phone, if I ever do.
