Ever feel like your prayers are going no further than the roof, or that you've been praying forever for something and seen no change or answer in sight? I have, and most of the time it's because I am not praying biblically. I found out 20 things about prayer that I want to share with you to help you make your prayer life more effective.

1. Pray without ceasing (1 Thes. 5:17)

2. Pray to God ~ "Our Father, who art in heaven."

3. If I regard iniquity in my heart, God will not hear. (Psalm 66:18) (Is. 59:1-2)

4. Pray first thing in the morning (Mark 1:35)

He awakens me morning by morning (Is. 50:4) (Ps. 5:1-3) (Ex. 34:4)

5. The prayer of the righteous man is powerful and effective (James 5:16b)

Prayer is Conditional

In order for a righteous man's prayer to be answered he...

          1) must pray according to God's will (Matt. 6:10) (1 John 5:14)

Prayer is finding out what God wants and doing it!

          2) must have faith and not doubt (Heb. 11:6)

          3) show respect to others ~ forgive, seek forgiveness (Matt. 6:14-15)

          4) abide in Christ (John 15:7) (Matt. 6:14-15)

6. Seeking God with all your heart and soul (Deut.4:29)

7. Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness

8. Pray in Jesus' name (John 14:13-14)

9. Pray with thanksgiving (Phil. 4:6)

10. Pray with others (Heb. 10:25)

11. God's answers to our prayers are not the end ~ we must act upon his answer or be acted upon. (Jer. 33:3)

12. Find a time apart from others to pray (Luke 5:16)

13. Praising and thanking Him morning and evening (1 Chron.23:30)

14. Pray with others in one accord (Acts 1:14)

15. Prayer is a two way conversation with God. (Psalm 46:10)

16. Pray for others (Gal. 6:2)

17. Pray with right motives (James 4:3)

18. Actively draw near to God (James 4:7-8)

19. Pray with humility (Matt. 6:5) (2 Chron. 7:14)

20. Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful (Col. 5:2) (Eph 6:18)

GOD'S ANSWERS TO OUR PRAYERS ARE ALWAYS ACCORDING TO HIS TIMING, NOT OURS!

Luke 18:1

Men ought always to pray and not faint.

Eph 6:18

Pray in the spirit on all occasions, with all kinds of prayers and requests.

Jeremiah 33:3

Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and tell you great and mighty things which you did not know.

Psalm 37:4

Delight yourself in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.
