On the Day I was Born...

I was tagged by Bubbebobbie. If you haven't visited her blog before I urge you to pay her a visit. You will be truly blessed. All of her posts are encouraging, inspirational, or just plain great reading. I haven't visited my friends blogs lately because of a temporary leave of absence from blogging and a reorganization of my priorities, leaving me with less computer time. However, hers will be one of the first blogs I catch up on when time allows.
The rules of the tag are to go to Wikipedia and type in the day and month of your birth, excluding the year, and hit search. Then you are to list three events, two births, and one holiday that occurred on your birthday.
Because we are studying American history this year, I have chosen events that have to do with the history of our great country.
 Events
  • 1860 - The first successful Pony Express run from Saint Joseph, Missouri to Sacramento, California begins.
  • 1865 - American Civil War: Union forces capture Richmond, Virginia, the capital of the Confederate States of America.
  • 1942 - World War II: Japanese forces begin an assault on the United States and Filipino troops on the Bataan Peninsula.

     Births

  • 1783 - Washington Irving, American author (d. 1859)
  • 1905 - Robert Frederick Sink, United States Army Officer (d. 1965)

     Holidays

Sizdah be dar (Outdoor thirteen). In Iran, people play jokes on each other on April 3, the thirteenth day of the Persian calendar new year (Norooz).

Now let's see, who should I tag...Hmmm... I think I'll tag Canadagirl, Netherfieldmom, Proverbsmomof3, Momofneb, and last but not least Ruth.

I am so glad you decided to do this tag. I love the Pony Express part. Do you know it cost five dolloars to send a letter back then? I remind myself about that when I pay for Priority mail to my Secret Sister! It doesn't hurt as muc and gets there in three days!
