Love is Patient...

1 Corinthinans 13:4-8a

Love is patient, love is kind; it does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrong. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always hopes, always trusts, always perseveres. Love never fails!

What does "love it patient," mean?

It means answering the same question for the tenth time, without getting exasperated. It means showing the kids where something goes, even when you think they should know. It means staying calm in the face of disobedience and questioning whether their behavior was willful or involuntary before inflicting discipline. It means listening to every word they say, even when it seems to take forever to complete a thought. It means letting them help, even if it takes longer and would be easier to do it yourself. It means letting them learn from their mistakes instead of trying to help when they insist they don't need it. It means explaining things calmly over and over and over until they show understanding. It means not hurrying them to finish a task or chore because it is inconveniencing you. It means taking the time to show them where something is even though it is sitting right in front of them.

These are some random thoughts I wrote down after one particularly frustrating day, and the Lord leading me to this passage of scripture to chide me for my impatience.
