Just One of Four!

January 25, 2007 - Pirates! Realtors! Morgans! and Competitions!

Whew!  Can't get much more exciting than that now can you?!  Well, I guess you could but I'll stick to the subject(s)!

I'll start with pirates.  The other day I finished reading Robert Louis Stevenson's 'Treasure Island'.  Overall, it was a very interesting story.  I actually got pretty creeped out towards the beggining of the book where it describes Mrs. and Jim Hawkins narrow escape from the hooligans!  In fact, that's partly why I only just finished it!  It's not a terribly long book and I started it LAST YEAR!  I guess I was was worried there would be more scary parts but there weren't (I think).  On the whole, it is a very captivating story!  I think a boy might like it more though.

On to Realtors!  We have been MAJORLY simplifying our stuff in the house in preparation for a (hopefully soon) move!  My mom and dad went to a meeting with the realtor today.  I don't know what it's looking like yet but my mom didn't sound upset on the phone!   We probably wouldn't be moving but for the fact that my dad works almost half an hour away and we need to be closer to his job.  I'm okay with the move partially because we have made quite a few friends through choir and practically all of them live even farther north!  I'll keep you updated on what our situation is!

Another book that I read (for history) is Marguerite Henry's 'Justin Morgan Had a Horse'!  It's is the history behind the Morgan breed (go figure).  It is a some what simple read but a very touching story.  Safe for readers of any age (unlike 'Treasure Islalnd')!

And finally!  Piano and choir competitions are coming up quickly!  Piano competitions are in February.  I will be playing Dmitri Kabalevsky's 'Toccata' from 'Four Rondos'.  It is a very lively piece!  I don't know which 3 of our songs our choir will be singing yet, but then, neither does our choir director!  Choir competitions aren't until March.

So that's what's happening around our house!  Hope all of ya'll's lives are just as exciting!

January 26, 2007 - from Mrs. Klause

I have been wondering what the Hall family has been up to. Thank you for the book tip for all ages. Bailey and I are about to finish our Little House series and it will be time for me to pick out a new book. Send me any suggestions.

January 26, 2007 - Hello

That's neat! My dad is a realtor, and I work in his office. I hope that if you do move, everything goes well. I started Treasure Island when I was about 12 and never finished it. Oops. I think I got bored. I will have to try it again one of these days. Have a nice weekend!
