Green Hour Challenge

I have just discovered Barb's blog for using the Handbook of Nature Study. She has also created thee weekly Green Hour Challenge. I love the idea and I am going to attempt to complete a challenge each week. I'm a bit behind though, so I'll start with Challenge no.1.

I am so glad that you are going to join us for the Green Hour Challenges! You are the first from NZ I think. There was a family from Australia but I haven't seen her lately. We have families from Spain, England, Brazil, Canada, Indonesia, and probably some others that I have forgotten.

It will be interesting to see your progress. You are coming into your fall season aren't you? Feel free to adapt your challenges to meet your habitat and weather.

I have enjoyed reading your blog this morning too. I LOVE to talk art. I am so jealous that Monet and the Impressionists are coming to Wellington. I got to see just a Monet exhibit three years ago and it was wonderful but a whole bunch of Impressionists....now that would probably make me cry.

Anyway, hope to see more from your family.

Hi Barb,

Thanks for your lovely comments! Yes, we are in our last month of Autumn (Fall) here in New Zealand, so we might have to pick & choose challenges to suit each week. We did a lot of nature study when we first started home schooling and my children were little. We would take lots of walks in the parks collecting & identifying leaves & flowers. But life has gotten busier (?) We now have no.5 (our first boy!) due in a couple of months, and coming into Winter we might struggle to get out there once a week. But that's what I like about it, it's just something once a week, which should be manageable!
