The news
Posted in Family
I want to thank all of you for your prayers. We did receive that dreaded phone call last night. She has passed. Though it is so sad, there is a relief that comes with knowing that she is now with her Savior, our Lord. No more wondering if she is suffering, no more hoping that she is comfortable. Now we can rejoice in knowing that she IS home.
Please continue to pray for the family. Thank you all for the love and kindness that show to complete strangers.
Bless You

Our God is so good!!!
Posted in Family
We have found our church! I feel so incredibly blessed. They are truly a beautiful bunch of people. I really feel “at home” when I am with them. They have all made us feel so welcome. We are going to find out what we need to do to become a member! I am so excited! I know it may seem silly, but I have never been a “member” of a church before so this is a really special time for me.
Well, I could go on all day about how amazing our new family is and how immensely blessed we are, but I really have to get some other things done today. I just wanted to share one way that God is working in our lives! There are so many great things He is doing in our lives right now, and I will be sharing those soon!
I hope everyone is having a wonderful beginning to your week!

Exciting and Scary
Posted in Family
Whew, it has been hectic around here lately. I have been busy planning and organizing for the coming school year. My plan was to have already been started but that's okay. We now have a date set for August 28th! I am very excited about the upcoming year; we will finish our unit on patience and then on to Responsibility!!
As if I wasn't already excited and nervous enough when my baby boy (4) told me ..... "I want to read mommy!!"

Oh my goodness!! I am so excited to teach him how to read! Also very nervous and scared. See my older two actually started out in public school so I didn't have to handle the reading thing alone. So any advise or words of encouragment will be well appriciated.
The kids went to VBS last week. They had a really good time. I worked in Bradley's class. Wow, this was my first time and boy is it tiring taking care of 17 pre-schoolers! It was alot of fun though, for all of us. I will try to post some pictures very soon.
We have spent the last two days re-arranging the house....again! I think this was the third time already this year. This time we stuck to the upstairs though and only messed with bedrooms. We decided to give each of the kids thier own room. Ashlynn's birthday is tomorrow

so we got her a whole new bedroom set! It is so cute and pretty. She really likes her new "pretty" room. I should take some pics and post them.
Bradley got a new bedding set, Superman!! He really likes it. Though was upset that he didn't get a superman costume to complete the deal.

Jonathan is loving having the BIG room again. He also has a small sofa in his room that he really likes. He is a reader so I thought the sofa would be a nice cozy reading area for him.
Well, as I said I have a little girl with a birthday tomorrow so there are still things to take care of around here...
I hope you are all having a wonderful week!!

I'm back

Whew…It’s been a
while
Oh,
I can’t believe it’s been so long. It has been just crazy around my house.
Well, we had attempted a vacation the beginning of the month. We went up to Maryland and I visited a dear friend!
Then we headed to Pennsylvania! First stop, Hershey. It was
a lot of fun. Second stop in PA, was Philadelphia. The plan was to do a
history trip. Well, first day we were caught in a thunderstorm too far from the
hotel and my daughters cast got soaked. Spent 5 hours at the ER that night, they
removed it but would not re cast her. Ok, well she was handling it alright.
Next day we’re off to see the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall!!! Bummer,
Independence Hall was sold out for the day, and Liberty Bell was *well* over an
hour wait (outside in the disgusting heat and humidity) just to get to
security. So we head back to the room. Oh, did I mention that I was pretty ill
with some head and chest yuckiness this whole time. Well, next day is our
anniversary and by this point we have pretty much figured that we just aren’t
meant to see Philadelphia at this time. We were
supposed to head to Statue of Liberty on the 5th but instead spent
the day of the 4th driving home. Oh, it was soooo nice to be home.
We
are thinking about trying this vacation again in the fall when it’s not so
HOT!!
Here
are some pictures from the trip…

This is a tour we took of the chocolate factory...

Now to Philadelphia...

This is the oldest road in America to always have people living on it.

And ofcourse the trip home...he is sleeping

Celebration!!!

WooHoo!!! I am so excited!!
My hubby made Tech Sergeant!!! Of course I knew he would but that doesn’t make the news any less exciting. We were not to hear until tomorrow but the Colonel just called a few minutes ago and made the announcement. We are having a party!! I hope there are plenty of others celebrating too.
Well, I’m off to dance in the rain. We are facing the remnants of Alberto.
Anywho, I’m off…

Jonathan's surgery
Posted in Family
Jonathan’s surgery went well
yesterday. It was supposed to take about an hour, but it ended up being a three
hour operation. His recovery was much longer than expected due to nausea from the
general anesthetic. Also he has asthma and was having some difficulty
breathing. We spent 10 hours at the hospital. It was a long and stressful day,
and we are grateful it is done with. Jonathan is doing much better today. He
has been slightly nauseated but has kept everything down. Yea!! He is in a bit
of pain but doesn’t want to take his pain meds. I want to thank all of you for
taking the time out of your busy lives to keep my family in your prayers.
Hope you all have a wonderful
weekend!!

Prayer Request
Posted in Family
Prayer
request for my son
My son
Jonathan will be going into surgery this Wednesday (May 31). The doctor will be
reconstructing his eardrum. A few months ago Jonathan got an ear infection and
his eardrum ruptured. He lost a little more than half of his eardrum. There are
still no signs of it healing itself and there was significant hearing loss so
the doc figures it is time to go in and rebuild it in hopes to restore his
hearing.
They will be
taking a skin graph from behind his ear and using it to make a new eardrum. If
all goes well the eardrum will re-grow around the skin and hearing will be
restored. If not then they will be re-attempting the surgery.
Jonathan
(who is 11) is very nervous. Please just pray that God will settle his nerves
and all will go as planned in the operating room, also a fast recovery.
Thank you
all in advance for your prayers. It means a lot to us.

Look at 'em grow!!
Posted in Family
Wow! I can’t believe how good our garden is growing. The ground here is terrible, so I am really surprised how it’s taking off. They are 11 days old.
Just look at Bradley’s green beans

My Sunflowers

The Radishes

The Garlic & Chives

The kids are so excited. Bradley is really happy about his green beans and how fast they are growing.
I am so proud of my precious blessings and their green thumbs!

Finally an intro
Posted in Family
Well, I
guess I should have done this weeks ago. LoL! I never enjoy introductions. But here
it is…
My name
is Dawn. I am a wife, mother, teacher, maid, encourager, chef, cheerleader,
friend, nurturer, and enforcer! Truly nothing more than any other mother here.
We as fulltime *every things* rarely stop and think about all that our job entails.
Don’t get me wrong, I am not complaining. I wouldn’t trade the world for what I
have. Yes, I have bad days, but they do not even come close to stacking up to
my fulfilling, fun, and full of learning, amazing days that I spend with my
precious blessings. I am so grateful to be apart of this online family where I
can share our triumphs as well as our struggles.

Matthew
is my loving husband and provider.
He is a great father to our three little
blessings. He is an NCO in the United States Air Force.
I love being apart of the
military family. Matthew is also a perfectionist, and very competitive in all
that he does. He is extreme when it comes to structure (no the military didn’t
make him that way lol). Yeah, he’s a bit of a different breed but we love him!
He can be very sweet and light hearted and will do just about anything to see
me smile.
He has given me the greatest gift… being able to be at home and teach
my kids! I will forever be grateful for this.
Next is
our oldest and wisest child, Jonathan. He is our comedian of the family. He is
eleven years old with the attitude of a fifteen year old.
Of course we love him
just the same. Jonathan is a very loving child, and has a good heart.
Sometimes
he amazes me with his level of compassion.
He is beginning 6th grade.
(Yes, we are starting the school year a bit early but we home school year round.)
He enjoys Science, History, and Language Arts. He loves being active.
He is
currently in ice skating lessons. In the winter he played basketball (that is
his favorite). In the last couple of years he has gained a love of reading.
He
reads when he gets up in the morning, at break time, at lunch time, and during
his free time. It has made me so happy to watch this transformation.

Then
there is my beautiful princess, Ashlynn. She will be eight this summer and
beginning 3rd grade. She can be quite bossy at times,
however
usually she is correct in what she is saying. She just needs to work on the way
she is saying it. This leads me to believe that I may need to work on this
also.
She is very perceptive for her age. Ashlynn enjoys all subjects in
school, she just loves learning! Most days she makes school time an enjoyable
experience. She is also taking ice skating lessons. She loves being on the ice
and has become quite good at it. It is wonderful watching her grow into a
beautiful young lady.

Last but
not least there is Bradley. He just turned four. He begs me every Monday to let
him skate when we are at the ice skating lessons. But he is such a little
magnet for disaster
I haven’t found the courage to put him on the ice. A few
weeks ago when we were there he managed to split his face open and he wasn’t
even on the ice. LOL! When it comes to learning he is a sponge. I have so much
fun working with him. I have never pressured him or made him sit and work, and
I don’t think I will ever have to. Bradley is always so eager to learn new
things. He amazes me with what he can
learn.
He loves to sit and trace letters or numbers when the other two are
working at the table.

So there
you have it. In a nutshell that is my family!

Easter

Happy Easter Everyone!
The kids and I made Resurrection Rolls today. What great fun! There were verses and a story of Jesus' resurrection to go with it. We really enjoyed learning about Jesus with a more "hands on" approach. The rolls came out just like the recipe said and they tasted wonderful. Just let me know if you're interested in the recipe!
I hope you all enjoy this wonderful holiday
