I was very disturbed to hear about the ruling recently in California. Here is a letter I received about this and a link to a petition I signed. If you are like minded, please use this also!

I wanted to alert you to an occurrence in California and ask for your help for our brothers in Christ there.
A California Court of Appeal recently decided that homeschooling is illegal in California unless a parent is a certified teacher. The case arose in a confidential juvenile court proceeding. The Court could have restricted its decision to the facts before it, but instead, it issued a broad ruling that effectively outlaws home education in California. The family and their California counsel are planning to appeal to the Supreme Court of California, which could result in reversal.
The Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) will be formally petitioning the California Supreme Court to depublish the opinion, which would cause it to be of little effect. Please join me by showing that many other people, both in California and across the country, care deeply about homeschool freedom in California by signing the HSLDA petition.
Click here to do so. Thank you.

I also wanted to add a link to another blog and petition you might be interested in signing. I previously thought ammending the U.S. Constitution would be unnecessary, but I now believe that we will lose our rights to home educate, without government intereference, if we don't act and soon!

We have been sick for the last 10 days. I am thankful that I can stop teaching and wait for them to be well again, instead of knowing the hours of lessons they would have missed!
Many things to pray about! God bless you as you homeschool!

I'm sorry you guys have been sick for so long! No fun!
I had already signed the petition. :)
Here in WA, homeschooling is legal and actually written into the law as a legal option. The only major requirement is that we test our children yearly starting in second grade. We don't have to turn in the results to anyone but have to keep the results on file with the children's records.
