Boycotting Procter & Gamble

Posted in Mom Thoughts

Disclaimer: This post is not intended as a personal message to the four or five regular commenters to this blog.  This is in the probably unrealistic hope that more than that actually lurk here and just never comment. (Hint! Hint!) However it is also intended to "punish" the company by giving them negative press on my little corner of the blogosphere.  They certainly deserve to be shown for their true purposes!

In general we don't watch television.  Now we have videos that we watch on a television set, but we don't receive local channels or satellite.  So we are pretty much in the dark about the latest toys, fashions, sayings, etc.  I was probably the last person to know what the word "bling" meant! (I would have said the sound of an old fashioned telephone!)  If you don't know, email me and I will be the 2nd to last!   (BTW, if you dress, smell, talk, and play like the average person in a commercial you may need to consider our radical answer to being so influenced by the ungodly world of television: Deny yourself and your children TV for as much as possible, even to getting rid of it (gasp!) and increase daily consumption of God's Word as much as possible!    We are still seeking to take our own advice and do not claim to be perfect at it either!  Okay, off this soap box and on to the next!)

One of the main reasons that we don't watch television, except the occasional news video clip on line, is because of the lack of moral programming.  We would enjoy the chance to watch (as we still do on occasion with our Little House and Andy Griffith series) but for the most part we don't want to promote or be exposed to the ungodly, mockery of what is good, in every modern movie, sitcom, cartoon, and soap opera.  Honestly I haven't watched a soap since I was in college and then only because my roommate taped them and I didn't always feel like leaving the room.  Unfortunately I still support this den of iniquity and I don't even realize.

Maybe I have a stomach ache and buy some Pepto, or I pick up a bottle of Pantene conditioner or buy Luvs for our newest addition!  Without even realizing it, I have supported the makers of one of the filthiest, most immoral "soaps" on television! I was just sent a notice by American Family Association to encourage me to boycott this company and sole producer of "As The World Turns."  Here is their reason:

Procter & Gamble has resumed using explicit, open-mouth homosexual kissing in their soap opera, "As the World Turns." P&G decided to include this type of content as a commitment to "diversity." P&G stopped showing such scenes some months ago, but has now decided to again help promote the homosexual agenda which includes homosexual marriage.

That is so disgusting!  I am just trying to buy the products to meet the needs of my family, and I am unknowingly supporting such sinful filth on the TV!

I am so thankful for AFA who will inform me of such things.  I am so sad for our country to be crawling down the pit of immorality so blindly or willingly!  I am so hopeful that Jesus will return soon and destroy this ungodly abomination!  He is our only hope.  I know that my boycott of these products probably won't really matter.  It is not going to change the hearts of those who so blatantly defy God's word.  But it helps me to feel that I can control at least a little of what I support each time I walk in Wally world!  How much am I willing to deny myself that the word of God not be blasphemed on national television five days a week on a trashy soap?!

So if you know of other companies and products I should avoid, please feel free to contact me!    If you care, here is a product list, I am sure it is only partial, that AFA included with the alert.

Thanks for sharing the info on Proctor & Gamble. I only see one or two things I buy so it shouldn't be difficult to remember to get another brand. I know what you mean, doing the boycott may not make a difference but at least you are taking a stand. I recently read that McDonald's is supporting the same things which helps me all the more to avoid running through the drive-thru. :) -- Amy

Well, the real sin P&G are involved in is testing on animals for household products. If the Bible makes us custodians of the earth and god’s creatures then abusing them for profit isn’t the way.

Blessed are the merciful

First of all, I put my name to this post. I would appreciate the same courtesy from you.

Secondly, I agree that animals are to be protected from useless harm, but they are not above the people God created. So just as God allows us to eat them for food and clothing, we would be allowed to use them for other needs as well.

Since you did not capitolize God's name in your comment, nor give a scripture reference for your quote I wonder if you are a believer. I pray you are.

Again, I agree that there are probably many ways that sinful people use animals in sinful ways for sinful gain, just as they use other people or things! It is a sin stricken world we live in unfortunately. Praise God, one day He will make all things new and there will be no more sin! Isa 65:17

"For behold, I createnew heavens and a new earth;
And the former things will not be remembered or come to mind.
NASU

Praise God that "He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him."
2 Cor 5:21 NASU

Otherwise we would have no hope!
To God be all glory! Eva

Thanks for coming back and telling me your name!

I am glad to hear that you are a believer also!

It still amazes me that people in other countries can read what I write. That is so mind boggling!

Thanks again for writing back to let me know who you are!

Blessings to you and yours! Eva

you are insane. mind your own business, worship your own god and quit ruining other people's lives (i.e., your children). quit being afraid of things that are different than you.

I seek to glorify God and enjoy Him forever! I seek to be a loving, godly wife. I also seek to win the hearts of my children to God. I am thankful for homeschooling and I pray that is never taken away in America!
