Good Times But Hard Times

The school year is coming to a close and the girls are looking forward to a bit of a break.  We don't take off long in the summer because it is too hot to be outside much.  However I do want to give them a small break from school to "end" 3rd grade!  We will be off the 2nd and 3rd weeks of June with our evaluation some time the end of June.

Another part of our life is coming to a close as well.  My dh has answered God's call to go back to VA.  We are not sure where, but we have said yes, and as God showed Abram, He will lead us.  It is so hard to leave our many, dear and wonderful friends and church family here in FL.  But we know what God does to His children who don't obey His call!  We want Him to say "Well done, good and faithful servant.  When I called, you followed!"  Living by faith is very hard sometimes!  We are so thankful for the support of our church here at Joppa.  Though they are sad to see us leave, they are also willing to let us go in order for God's will to be done and His name to be glorified.  We are so blessed to have them! "To God be the Glory" is written on the stained glass windows of our church and the hearts of the people!

Our departure will be slow.  We cannot leave FL until the adoption is finalized by the courts which we estimate to be September.  So we will be here for a while longer, serving beside our Joppa Brothers and Sisters until then, as much as possible.  Dh will have so much to do: in serving here as much as the church wants and he is able, looking for the open door God is preparing, getting our home ready to be sold, and preparing a place for us to go in VA.  To the world it sounds crazy to leave your nets and follow Him, but His children know and count the many blessings of the Father! I too will remain busy as I seek to school the children (starting 1st and 4th grade in July), pack the belongings, and continuing in some of my service to the church also.  We would appreciate your prayers whenever God brings us to your minds!

Here is a picture of Daddy and the girls on the merry-go-round at the park.  I don't like the merry-go-round at all so I was happy to stand and take photos and video of the "fun."

We also had our family portrait made finally!  We couldn't get the disk copy because they were out, but when we came home, a dear friend came over to take a picture of us.  This was the best.  Lydia was finished smilling and ready for her pacifier and a nap!  I love the FL palmetto bushes for our background.  Didn't realize we had the back of the church van in the picture, but oh well!  It is all six of us in one picture! Woo-hoo!

We are truly thankful to God for each day He gives us to serve Him no matter where that is!

Psalm 84:10 For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand outside.  NASU
Praying you are also serving in His courts!

Hi Eva! :)
What a testimony your family is! I think it is so neat how you're following the Lord's lead like that. I don't ever think I've felt a strong pull one way or another (wait, except for homeschooling... and leaving our family size in God's hands....). That's exciting to see what the Lord has planned for you! I love stories like George Mueller- his faith and trust in God was absolutely amazing! To have faith like that....

What a *gorgeous* family! I love that photo of you all! I think that's the first time I've seen a pic of you! You are very pretty and look just as sweet as you come across as my online friend. :)

I can totally understand you guys not taking too long of a break in the summer, especially since you spend a lot of it indoors. I was like that too when we lived in CA. We usually started in July or August when we lived there. Now here is a different story. We can *usually* count on 2 nice months of weather per year- July and August. We will be done with this school year next Friday but will continue for 3 weeks into the new school year until the 3rd week into June, and then take 2.5 months off. You're right (referring to a comment you left a while back), it's tons easier not to take too much time off because it is hard to get back into the routine of things. I do have chore lists all made up and ready to begin as soon as school is out so I'm hoping that giving them regular daily work to do will keep them in somewhat of a routine besides just having the entire day to do whatever they please! LOL! (plus I'm hoping that these new chores will help *me* have some free time with the baby when she gets here!)

HUGS!
Love, Alyssa

I forgot to tell you, but that anonymous comment was from me... I just can't get used to putting my signature on here! Sorry! We are really enjoying our summer vacation. We have never done this, and it is so refreshing. I am already looking forward to planning our next school year!

So neat seeing a pic of all of you! Very nice! Sounds like you'll be going through lots of change! Don't know if you've read all of our story about moving or not, but it's been so neat seeing how God worked things out with all our moves we made in the last 2 years! Somewhere in the archives of my blog I have the story... Anyways, I hope all falls into place smoothly for you guys. Congrats on the upcoming adoption! God bless!

I seek to glorify God and enjoy Him forever! I seek to be a loving, godly wife. I also seek to win the hearts of my children to God. I am thankful for homeschooling and I pray that is never taken away in America!
