Just Taking Notes
Oct. 24, 2007 - A new Low in public education
Most of my blogging consists of photos and insights to our daily life primarily because I have a difficult time translating my thoughts and emotions into the written word. Hence, my blog's name. Sometimes though, my heart is so pierced that I need to at least jot a note about it for my own benefit so I can later recall those same thoughts and emotions.
Today I happened across an article that just crushed me, saddened me and angered me all at the same time.
And not just your common latex kind either, no it's the hormonal kind. The Birth Control Pill. There are so many things wrong with this I do not even know where to start. I was first struck by the opening line "After an outbreak of pregnancies among middle school girls..." Really, an outbreak, as if pregnancy were a disease or something.
How low can the government go? Who is protecting these girls from the boys? Where are the parents? Why have parents abandoned their children to the government so completely? Who is concerned for the long term health of these girls? What 11yo girl can really think through BC and sexual relationships, particularly one who asks the school nurse for the pills? What nurse would dispense them?
I really don't get it. I am so grateful that God has allowed us the freedom to home educate our children and foster loving relationships with them so that this will not be an issue for us. I praise God that we can lead them in His paths of righteousness for his name's sake that we may glorify our Father in heaven.
Ultimately, God is Holy and sovereign over all Full of justice and mercy. I am so glad to be his servant. May I please Him in all that I do. |
