is it possible his sensory issues are diminishing????

Dakota will NOT wear jeans. HATES them. He will wear denim shorts but not long jeans, I think because the bulk at the knees bothers him. Yesterday he got his sweats wet so he took them off & went & got a pair of his brothers jeans & put them on. I noticed something the other day too, though of course I cant remember what it was now LOL, but he was doing something that he normally would have avoided due to the sensory issues. Is it possible for them to outgrow this to a point or is it related to something else I wonder??

My son had a weird sock issue -- I have it, too -- where the seam had to be perfectly straight across his toes. Now he couldn't care less how the seam sits... he could even have his socks hanging off of his feet now. (I still have a sock issue.) I do believe that our kids can outgrow, and gain new, sensory issues. They are forever keeping us guessing. Blessings, Beckie :o)

We have found our son to be less sensitive as he has gotten older as well, I have wondered if it is just tolerance with the many sensory issues, but am not really sure. I have been blessed recently with the book "Educate Toward Recovery: Turning the Tables on Autism" by Robert Schramm, MA, BCBA. It has answered many questions for me and is a huge help toward teaching our autistic. It is very true that they do love control and can be difficult to redirect. You may find this book helpful, I know we have.
