Recovering from a Mystery

It’s another recovery day.  I got sick yesterday with my undiagnosed, phantom illness.  This was a bad one, but I’m feeling much better today.  I’m waiting for the results of an expensive Lyme’s test.  I’ve had one before, but the lab I used this time is supposed to be the premiere lab for this type of testing.  If they don’t find anything, I will have come to the end of all I know to do to find the cause of this recurring problem.

I missed writing about Crysten’s 27th birthday on Tuesday.  We took Carissa and Megan and spent the day touring Portland.  We visited the new Cabela’s;  the Victoria Mansion www.victoriamansion.org ; ate lunch at Gilbert’s Chowder House;  did a Trolley tour of the city; and finished off our day at Beal’s Ice Cream shop  www.bealsicecream.com .

Carissa was heard to say, “This is the best day I’ve had so far this year!”  We all had a great time.  Cabela’s takes some getting used to.  After LL Bean’s, I wasn’t expecting to be taken around the world at Cabela’s.  I was expecting the great Maine emphasis of Bean’s.  We loved the Safari scene with stuffed lions, rhinos and zebras.  It would be a great place to take kids on a scavenger hunt.  There are so many animals, fish, etc. there.

Crysten came home with a birthday headache, and skipped Ann’s jewelry party.  I went but left early, suspicious that I might be getting sick.  Luke came by and fixed her broken door, and Ariel came later to watch the Bones final on the internet.

I could not afford to be sick yesterday, but God had other plans.  I had promised to drive a Colby girl to the airport at 8, rush back to help with pizzas, then tennis after that.  Kevin and Erika did the airport run (I owe them big time); Stephanie and Nicole replaced me at pizza (I owe them big time); and they did tennis without me.

Yesterday would have been  Nelson Blount’s 90th birthday.  I wanted to do a write up, but it will have to wait for another time.

I’m home alone today.  Michele and the kids are gone until tonight and Bob, who arrived home last night from being away, is gone to a meeting today.   I will appreciate the quiet as I recover from yesterday.
