We ARE Family

We Are Family

And there has been lots of it over the last 24 hours or so.  Yesterday we all drove over to the Walls and helped them unpack and get settled in.  The cousins were having a ball, even though it was raining.  Not a peep out of them.

In the evening we gathered with the Wood/Foshay families to celebrate Ann and Pat’s birthdays, which are a day and five years apart.

This morning I drove up to the Lakewood Inn to join the Ouellette family in celebrating their mom Alice’s 80th birthday.  I met her when she was 50.  How time flies.  She has the beginning stages of Alzheimer’s so I felt it was important to miss church and be there for the celebration.  She may not even know me this time next year.

When I arrived home, the girls were just cleaning up for lunch.  Everyone came here after church to wait for Nick Dumont’s graduation this afternoon.  Lori put on a sit down meal and it was marvelous.  Got to see a lot of people we don’t see often, and enjoyed celebrating Nick’s life.  He’s a good kid.  Once we were finished the entire church family pitched in and helped clean up.  Lori had planned to just leave it all until tomorrow.  Dishes were washed, tables put away, floors cleaned, trash disposed of… done before we left.  What a relief it was to her.  What a blessing.  “We are family,” I reminded a very grateful Lori.  “Yes we are!” she replied with conviction.
