I Flunked My Test Not long ago, I read this verse and it reminded me of the illness that I have suffered in the flesh over the last 7 years. Since therefore Christ suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves with the same thought, for whoever has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, so as to live for the rest of the time in the flesh no longer by human passions but by the will of God. 1 Peter 4:1 This passage says that I should be ready for the same suffering in the flesh as Jesus… a suffering as unto death. Not just death for death’s sake, but death for the gospel’s sake. To die spiritually means to turn from sin and live righteously. My thought was about living for the rest of time in this flesh that has been causing intermittent suffering for so long – and living it by the will of God. But, maybe that is not the will of God for me, after all. Remember my recent blood work I told you about? It went out to a specialized lab in CA. It’s back and I am positive for Lyme related disease. The mystery seems to be unfolding. I visit the Dr. Morgan on Thursday and she says we have a lot to talk about, so stay tuned. Justin and I finally finished painting the wooden swing set today. It really looks great. This afternoon Justin started painting the steps around here with the left over paint. A big rain cloud opened up and washed away most of his work. I couldn’t believe it. He says he loves to paint almost as much as he loves to mow lawns. The Wall/Risinger reunion finally happened today and the kids had a great time together. Dan and Melissa has an appointment to finish filing their income taxes so the kids stayed here. “Is hugging a typical Guatemalan greeting?” Michele asked me later. When I replied “Yes” she said, ”I thought so. Dan gave me a big hug and I don’t think I’ve ever gotten a hug from him.” Justin had an appointment and things seem to be progressing well according to the doctor, but Justin still has the headaches. Please pray that his body will respond to the treatment. I went in and set up Camp Curves with Crysten today. We set up a tent and built a fire pit out of rocks, colored tissue paper, and wood. We’ve got lanterns and a sleeping bag and will have trees soon. I got the idea to really make it woodsy by laying bark nuggets around the tent. “Kathy will be mad,” the ladies teased. Crysten wasn’t laughing because she was sure she wouldn’t like the mess. I promised to take full responsibility for the clean up. Everyone agreed that it looked great. I sprinkled a few pine cones around, too. Now, everyone wants to sign up for Camp Curves. Bob returned tonight from being gone for a couple of days. |
