Six Things You May Not Know About Me
A new friend from IL has tagged me to tell you 6 things about myself that no one knows. Well, that is an impossibility since those of you who read this already know just about everything about me! So the best I can come up with are these things that some of you may not know or may have forgotten. None of them are very interesting - I am just a boring person! In no particular order:
1. I hate talking on the phone. (Of course, given the amount of time I spend on the phone with my mother, no one would ever guess!!) I much prefer email as a form of communication. And I cannot even tell you why. I just don't know.
2. We do not have any TV reception (network, cable, satellite...). We watch dvds/videos only. This was originally a financial decision. But I like what we are missing and intend to keep it this way even after finances improve.
3. I received many "honors" in college, graduating summa cum laude and a member of Phi Beta Kappa (still am - I think). [The best was a cash award which let us buy our first TV. :)] I think all this means that I am supposed to be a stuffy intellectual!
But I mention these only to point out that, really, these worldly accolades are meaningless ! The certificates lie in a box somewhere (if I haven't already pitched them), gathering dust. And I know that they will not have any part of my Lord's commendation, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant," when I finally see Him face to face. Store up your treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy. Wordly treasures and praises are far too short-lived and utterly empty!
4. I have only had one broken bone - on the side of my foot. Many of you might remember the accident when I was 16 - one of you was on the phone with Mom when the screams began! Mom had an old stand mixer that had the 2 beaters connected. I was making cookies and plugged in the mixer then tried to insert the beaters with one hand. The machine was "on" and when the beaters made contact, they whirled around and crunched my fingers. The metal twisted around my fingers and Mom had to call paramedics to free me. (The Keystone Cops came instead, but that is another story!) Amazingly, though I still have scars from the cuts, not a bone was broken nor even a single fingernail!
5. Never say "never" - There was a time in my life when I said I would "never" have children! Once upon a time, I also said that I would "never" homeschool!
6. I am married to the best husband in the world!! I have been careful to keep this a secret - if everyone knew him as I do, I would have much unwanted competition!
*******
Oooops! I forgot - I have to tag 6 more people to do the same thing, post 6 Things No One Knows About You. Hmmmm. I am limited to those I know who have blogs. So - opckid, carpebanana, Jay, Madeline, Alexandra and Abigail: TAG! You're it! (My family members, you'll have to post on my blog. )
btw, Andrew has already been tagged by someone. He will get to it eventually but right now is consumed by a special paper/presentation for his Book of John class...

tagging me like that. :P
But ok. 6 things you may not know about me:
1. I love to waltz with an invisible partner, and often do so in public.
2. I wear a cloak. All the time.
3. I am very experienced in English Country, contra, and square dancing.
4. I LOVE sharp pointy weapons (swords, knives, axes, etc.) That probably comes from my older brother. ;)
5. I am currently in the middle of writing 4 stories, but only one is on paper.
6. My first son's name will be Judah Eric, and if my husband doesn't like that name, well, um.......I guess I'll just have to get a husband who likes that name. :P
So there ya go. Some you may know, some you may not. But I can think of a few of you who know all of that already. ;) The fact is, I am a very open person. That is one of the things that makes me so weird. *grins*

oh boy, this otta be fun...
six things you may not know about me:
1: my front tooth looks funny. i was running in pittsburgh and i fell on the cement. i started crying like crazy. seems i chipped part of my tooth off. we looked for it everywhere and i finally found it on the back of my tounge. a dentist had to glue it back in place.
2: hmm. this one is hard to explain to people. you know that nails-on-a-chalkboard sensation? yeah. go ahead. cringe. grit your teeth. because that's what i do at the randomest things for no reason: flour, chalk, unswept floors, crumbs under board games, etc. it's weird.
3: i'm learning german. das ist gut. nicht wahr?
4: my sister and i *love* 80's songs.
5: i have a worst fear of...well, uh, nothing. *shrugs*
6: i walk and talk and hallucinate in my sleep. it used to be funny but now it's just weird. like last saturday i was fixing the lightbulb in my sleep. where does that come from?!?
so that's me in my crazy world. like madeline, these arn't very secret. in fact i'm pretty sure everyone in my family knows each fact anyway, but who cares? i did the tagging thingy. *bows*

And I will allow you to continue to believe you have the best husband, though I know he can't be better than #2, since #1 is under *my* roof. :)

I can't believe it! Another Phi Beta Kappa/Summa Cum Laude homeschooler. I seriously thought I was the only one. Especially since Phi Beta Kappa sends newsletters full of overachieving, smarter than me, never left college types. I agree with you, the accolades really don't mean that much to me. Every now and then I clean out a drawer and find a certificate or my diploma and then stick it back in there for another year. It's the journey, you know? I enjoy learning or creating something, but once I'm finished I don't stand around and admire it, I start the next project.
But I'll hold onto the certificates. Some day my great great grandchildren will think I was really smart. ;o)
Peace and Laughter,
Cristina
