Secondly,

Alexandra is very interested in computers.  She took Andrew's very old, very dead one and took it apart and resurrected it.  But she did it all through a kind of instinctive trial and error.  She doesn't know what she did or why it worked!  We'd love to get her some guided, hands-on experience.

Any ideas?  -- some kind of "kit" or book?  a class?  I am hoping that someone can help us out from their own experience because we are all technologically ignorant and really don't know where to start.
