We are taking the kids to Reed Bingham State Park today to have a fun in the sun day.  There are local Christian bands set up, and a bunch of activities.  The best part to me is the fireworks tonight!!!  (Yes, I am still a kid!)  I hope it turns out to be fun, the kids are in constant battle mode right now, so that could dampen the spirits!  I threatened not to go, but I think they know me better than that, so we shall see.

I hope everyone has a great Fourth Holiday.  It is something wonderful to celebrate!

Happy Birthday Christopher!!!

I can't believe my Chris is 7 today!!!  He is doing so good in school, I am just so proud of him.  His reading is wonderful and his math is bordering on a 3rd grade level.  He also has a wonderful love of Christ.  I have never seen a 7 year old grasp the meaning of Christ and his life like this kid does.  He is a constant reminder of God's faithfulness and grace.  He is truly a blessing to have in our family!!!!

It's Mother's Day!!!

I am truly blessed with the greatest kids on earth!  I know all you mom's reading this thinks your's are, but your wrong, mine are.  My kids make me feel special every day, not just on this special day.  They are great about trying to show me how much they love me.  I am feeling guilty today thinking about all the times I see the "bad" they do instead of embracing all the good things.  Today, I am making a pact with myself, my kids, and my Lord to be the mother my 4 precious children deserve.  God gave me something special, I need to appreciate it more!!!

It has been awhile (again!)

Well, once again, I have not checked in for a bit.  But that doesn't mean that life hasn't been going on.  We are still doing school.  Much to my kids disappointment.  I keep threatening to send them to public school one day.  I think that would awaken them to how much easier they have it.  But with my luck, they would want to stay and play on the playground!

We have stayed busy with just the everyday stuff.  The two older boys have drums and a bass now.  So they are writing songs and are really developing a love for music and are showing real talent.  Holly will be their singer once they get the songs down, but whenever you have three siblings working that close together, well, you can imagine.  She usually stomps out of the band room before they can even get one verse down.  I dread the teenager years with that one!!!!

Aaron is turning 12 tomorrow.  That is unbelievable!!  I can't believe that I have a 12 year old.  And he thinks that is a teenager and fully acts out the teenager role.  But that's ok, I will make sure he understands that he is still a kid!  lol

Well, for now, that is all.  I need to get back to helping Holly.  She is doing language and refusing to understand it.  I am sure some of you have kids like that.  That you know they would understand it if they wanted to.  But for some reason just want to make it all impossible!!!!

Another Year has started!

2:40 PM, Jan. 7, 2006 .. 2 comments .. Link

Well, we are starting 2006 off with a bang!  Holly has been sick so we are not really getting into the school thing like we should, but I have yet to hear any complaining from the other kids!

I have big plans for 2006.  I want to do more with the kids schooling.  Besides just the basics.  I get so caught up in the bookwork that we are missing out on some life lessons and life experiences!  So that is my homeschooling goal for this year.  To make it a little more fun and a little less routine!

I have started a Bible reading course this year with Kelly.  I am really excited about.  My big present this year was a nice new bible from my husband.  I was very excited about it because it is the first Bible I have gotten as a grown up and it has my married name on it.  I am worse thatn the kids about getting excited over the little things.  But to me it was the greatest gift I could have been given.  The Lord's Word is so important in our lives.

We are going to try to make 2006 a great year for our family!  Wish us luck!

Christmas is coming!!!!

10:50 AM, Dec. 15, 2005 .. 2 comments .. Link

We are getting ready for the Holidays!!  I am so tired of media's potrayal of the proper way to acknowledge the day we celebrate our Lord's birth!  It is the little things like that that make me so thankful for the option of homeschooling.  We are including Christmas in our studies and why Christmas is so important.  And I am blessed with kids who are thankful for the day they can celebrate the birthday of their Lord.

I am getting the kids to make the presents for the grandparents.  I am very excited about that.  They are starting to understand the joy of giving, and thinking out the presents they are wanting to make.  I have been blessed with such wonderful children.  I am enjoying them so much, trying to save up on the happy moments because the teen years are right around the corner and people keep telling me my sweet little angels are going to change!

I hope everyone out there has a very wonderful Christmas and truly remembers the importance of the day that out Savior was born!

December 4, 2005 was a glorious day!!!

I know, I know, I haven't been updating again.  I look at my life as boring and the same ole, same ole so why would anyone want to hear about it.  But yesterday was different.

Yesterday, Aaron, our 11 year old son was baptized.  What a wonderful witness to Our Lord he is.  Well, after the baptism Holly, our 10 year old, was really concerned with her own salvation and wanted to talk to her father. After a long talk, it ws clear that she was convicted and it was time for her to be saved.   So, she dedicated her life to Christ.  My heart is so full of joy for my children.  They love the Lord so much and are so excited to live their lives for him.  They are both in the greatest spirits today and are looking at life with whole new eyes.

Now, about school.  It is going really good.  They are learning and showing signs of progress in there different academics.  Christopher's reading is going really good.  The only real problem I have noticed is that he gets his b's and d's confused at times.  Holly's math is coming along nicely.  She says she is bad at it.  She isn't, she just doesn't like having to take that much time on anything so she starts to get careless.  But the more she works at it, the less she is missing, so the faster she gets it done.  And Aaron doesn't have any "problems" or areas to work on besides possibly not asking me daily if he could skip something and pick it up the next day.  That is a constant.  And shows what I get for being a pushover and letting him do it in the past.

So there is a update and a wonderful praise report about our lives.

Been awhile

Well, I have not been dutiful in my updating, but maybe I can get in gear!

School has been going great, the kids are learning a lot this year.  Some days, they aren't as excited about their learning as others, but the learning is still there.  Christopher is making great progress with his reading.  I am very proud of him.

I am reading a great book right now, "The Purpose Driven Life."  It is giving me great prospective on my relationship with God.  I am fixing to start reading, "Sheparding a Child's Heart".  I am very excited about this book.  I have a cousin, who has the most patience and loving toward her children.  I asked her mom once how she got it, and her mom told me about the book.  Well, some months have passed and I have heard more positive things about the book, and a wonderful friend sent me a copy of it.  YAY!!!!!  I have a lot of house cleaning to do, and all I can think about is sitting down and reading.

I found a web page today with Mad Libs.  The kids have been having so much fun with them.  So they found one for me to do.  Well, the kid in me came out because for probably an hour, I sat here doing Mad Libs.  I didn't post any of mine, but Aaron and Holly posted some of theirs. (I think).

Well, I am off to do house work, I will try my hardest to post a lot more regularly!!!!

So far so good

3:16 PM, Oct. 7, 2005 .. 2 comments .. Link

This school year seems to be going really good.  Christopher's reading is doing wonderful and the other kids seem to be learning.  It is just a task keeping them on track somedays, and somedays they can't get it done fast enough.

I am wanting to start some new activities.  There is a nursing home and retirement center right up the street.  I am thinking of getting at least Aaron and Holly some kind of vounteer work up there.  Or just doing and reading to the residence.  I think it would be good to give them a chance to serve others.

Our First Day

5:51 PM, Aug. 24, 2005 .. 5 comments .. Link

Today we started our school year.  The kids were so excited, so I was so excited.  Then, we actually started.  Goodness!!!!!  Holly was the only one that didn't ask at least once, "Do I have to do all of it?".  I felt bad for her because she got a lot harder math this year and on the first day the math took her over an hour.  She never even tried to quit, though.  Christopher has a problem with coloring.  It is the strangest thing, he will come pretty close to crying if he has to color something.  He was disappointed because he thought by first grade he wouldn't have to color.  Besides that, it was good.  I still am encouraged for this year and am hoping that we can hurry up and get into the grove.  I did learn today that it is essential to keep Luke (the 2 year old) occupied!!  That is something that I will work on.

Starting a new school year

12:49 PM, Aug. 21, 2005 .. 0 comments .. Link

We are getting ready to start our school year.  I am really excited about this year.  We are using almost entirely A Beka.  I am using Saxon math for my 6th grader and we are using library books for reading.  But everything else is A Beka.  I think it is wonderful to find books that embrace the Lord in their teachings.

I am going to be trying to do more art projects with the kids this year and to do more outings.  We are members of a great Co-op so that helps.  If any on you have any ideas for crafts and activities that I can add to our day please feel free to share.
