A Life Better Than I Deserve

BIG AHG and BSA Scouting News!

Two years ago our family decided that it was high time that we find a local American Heritage Girls Troop for our girls to participate in! Our eldest son was having all the fun with cub scouts, and we wanted more for our girls.

We had signed our eldest daughter up for American Heritage Girls seven years ago, but her group wound up splintering off from what then became the main AHG Troop. We were two months into participating before the leader mentioned what had happened. We wound up trying to reenter the "main" group twice in successive years, and were twice placed on a "waiting list."

Then we moved to a parsonage and lived nearly an hour away.

Then we promptly became busy with other activities and it slipped our mind for a little while.

After we moved to Alabama and settled in, the subject came up again. I did some research and discovered that we had a local Troop which was only one year old. My husband and I discussed it, prayed about it, and we placed our girls in at the second meeting of the year.

It has proved to be such a blessing for our girls. They love having a group of girls they can meet with every other week--singing songs, making crafts, going camping, learning, earning badges, doing service projects, praying, and just having friendships with other Christian girls!

So, I was excited to read about this historic partnership between our two favorite scouting organizations!

I will have to check into the AHG.I wonder if they have one locally.

The sunburn saga worsens. Turns out, I'm burned on the backs of my knees and calves. I didn't put sunscreen there because I never get my legs sunburned walking. At least I haven't before.

I hadn't heard of that group for girls before! You'll have to post more about your adventures. My girls are very little yet, 4 and not quite a year, but I'll try to keep it in mind when they get older! I always loved participating in Girl Scouts.

Oh, I hadn't heard this! How exciting!!

We're still two years from joining AHG, but we already have our group picked out. The tough part is going to be having two Boy Scouts in one part of the church, two Cub Scouts in another, and one AHG upstairs. All at the same time. I'm praying my husband's job will allow him to be there by then.

I love the idea of this becoming a possibility for lots of other families.
