A Life Better Than I Deserve

Review: Fearless

As a part of the Thomas Nelson blog review program I recently received Fearless by Max Lucado. In this newest release he addresses those very real fears we all have. What kind of fears? The ones I have. The ones you have. The ones which wake you in the middle of the night unable to sleep. The ones which stop you dead in your tracks, too paralyzed to make a decision or act. The ones which steal your peace. Your joy. The ones which cause your heart to skip a beat. The ones which interfere with your ability to follow God. Fears like . . .
- not protecting your children when they need it
- facing failure
- facing overwhelming challenges
- not having enough money
- violence and terrorism
- economic recession or depression
- death
- and more
So, what do you do when facing fear? You can't run away from it. You need to face it. How? This book, complete with a detailed discussion guide suitable for both individuals or groups, can show you how. By taking you to the gospels and walking you through the Scriptures, showing you Jesus again--only perhaps a little more clearly this time.
I found this book encouraging. Reassuring. And challenging. Why challenging?
As I said, you cannot run away from fear. You must face it. This book challenged me to face my own fears and to face some well-known Scripture passages in careful detail and embrace some Scriptural truths more fully. To remember that the Christian life is full of challenges and adversities. And to realize even more than before that the only way to live my life more fully, more completely . . . is to lose it. To trust Him even in the midst of the sudden, terrifying storm. He is faithful to bring me through it.
This 221 page hardcover with dust jacket is available from Thomas Nelson for $24.99. Additional resources are available here. Highly recommended.
