Review: The Amazing Bible Timeline

Recently I was provided a free Bible Timeline in order to review this product for the Homeschool Crew. I did not receive any monetary compensation in exchange for providing my honest review, and the opinions expressed represent my own and my family's experiences with this product. To read more about this product and many more exciting homeschooling products, please visit the Homeschool Crew web page.

Recently I received The Amazing Bible Timeline from Bill and Margaret. It is quite large--38" by 46" and is constructed of card stock and seemingly resistant to tears--definitely a nice feature. Although not laminated, the paper is glossy ("varnished") and is constructed to stand up to repeated use. It was shipped to me rolled up inside a triangular shaped shipping box to protect it from any damage.

This product was so large that I initially set it aside. A few days after I received it I purchased a clear vinyl tablecloth protector in order to place it on our large dining table. My initial thought was that we could refer to it during our morning Bible time. So, after dinner that evening I unrolled the Timeline and placed the clear vinyl over it. As I gazed at it that night there was something about it that was mildly troubling to me. What was it? Was it the circular model? The bright colors? The very, very small print? Not wanting to spend too long sniffing the new vinyl vapors of the tablecloth protector, I decided to take a fresh look in the morning.

In the morning I asked my husband, who happens to be a church history professor, to also look it over. He looked it over for a couple of minutes and then proceeded to roll it back up and place it in the closet. Well, that was a first for our family! He decided then and there that our family would not be using this timeline, since it contains many Mormon references!

Our family finds it unacceptable to present beliefs about American history which are taught in the Book of Mormon and for which no reputable historical evidence exists as historical fact. Therefore, this resource has no place in our home. I also do not recommend its use in Christian homes. I do not mean to offend any Mormons who may be reading this review. I am not trying to judge or condemn you. Instead, I earnestly desire for you to personally know THE Jesus of the Old and New Testaments, born of a virgin, who suffered and died on the cross for your sins.

This Bible Timeline is available for $29.97 plus $6.00 shipping and handling. The publishers are also offering a free Holy Lands map download as well as a download of this Bible Timeline to all purchasers of this product. If you would prefer to order their specifically LDS version of this product, you can find the LDS product here. It is sold at exactly the same price and also includes the Holy Land download. If you are confused about this product, frankly, so am I. The publishers wrote to me and informed me that a decade ago their original master timeline was accidentally destroyed and they had had to reconstruct it from the LDS version. They insisted that they had not noticed these Mormon references until some of the TOS Crew pointed them out. If you are interested in purchasing a Bible Timeline, I refer you to the publishers' page detailing their personal religious beliefs and how each product came to be here.

Oct. 16, 2009 - Bible Timeline

Posted by Baptist History Guy
The Bible Timeline in question has Mormon dates, names, and places based on the alleged Book of Mormon history of Pre-Columbian America. The reality is that there is no archeological evidence to support any of these "historical" claims, and to put them forth as any kind of genuine history simply calls into question the credibility of the entire project. For those who are interested in knowing more about how well the Book of Mormon stacks up against hard evidence see http://mormonchallenge.com/

Again, this is not intended to "slam" persons who are involved in the LDS Church. My comments are born out of a genuine desire to see all people come to know the One and Only true and living God Who became incarnate in the person of Jesus Christ.

I had the same reaction but you stated so much more clearly. I had such a tough time with this one, my review did not come across as coherently as yours. Well spoken (er... Or rather, typed).

Here! Here! Amen to that sistah. Regardless if it is the non-Mormon or Mormon version-they need to be upfront about what they have on there, their sources and their intent. It is simply good business practices. That way the customer can make an informed decision at to what they are purchasing. Well written.
