Book Review
Life of the Komodo Dragon is written by Melissa O. Markham. It is a downloadable ebook available from Melissa at Writmm. As you read this book you are part of the life of this animal. It follows the circle of life from birth to the laying of eggs for the next generation. The book is about thirty pages long which makes it short and to the point. It is filled with photographs illustrating the text. Certain words are highlighted to links with their definitions. These could be used for vocabulary lessons to go along with the book. As your children learn about this creature you can expand into a unit study or use it with a unt on animals. No mention of evolution is made in the book and neither is the Creator mentioned but numerous facts about the komodo dragon show evidence of an intelligent design by who else but God. I was in awe of God's awesome creation. In fact discussions with your children can be started concerning the lonely life of the dragon, the eggs being left to hatch alone, and the difficulty to survive in the world. In fact I'm sure different Bible verses could could tied to these themes. This could be tied in to copywork with drawings of the stages of life. I was very pleased with this book and look forward to more from this up and coming author. Blessings. |
