You would, quite possibly, not believe the deafening silence that is in my home right now. Dan popped in for dinner and popped out with ALL FOUR CHILDREN to go to a baseball tryout for little league. He left me here, under no protest from me, to sip tea and blog a bit before heading for my pajamas. I have had a bit of tummy thing the past few days and am just now feeling good enough to eat a bit and sip some hot tea. So after clearing the dishes and stacking them, sweeping up a bit of sand that came in with the kids before dinner and putting on the kettle here I am...
The last few days have been good days. We celebrated St. Patrick's Day in fine fare. I served a traditional salmon and greens meal with asparagus and mashed potatoes on the side. We finished off the meal with some decaf coffee and Irish Sweet Biscuits from a favorite Irish cookbook I have had for many years. In years past I have cooked lamb stew or Shepherd's Pie but this year we went with salmon in honor of Dan's new healthy lifestyle. For those who do not know, my husband was diagnosed with some very serious blood pressure last May and has been on very little salt, fat or sugary foods since that time. He is taking medication to keep it in control until such time as the doctor deems the lifestyle good enough - we are praying he gets to come off the pills at some point. The whole grain cooking is a real benefit for him, too.
Anyway, we ate and listened to Irish music then settled in for the annual viewing of The Quiet Man. We had watched Darby O'Gill and the Little People the night before. That is a post in itself... We ADORE The Quiet Man, though.
I was able to also enjoy a "Girls Day" at my friend Monica's on Friday. She held a luncheon for all the HSing mommies and friends in her neighborhood. We sat and ate green food and visited for a few hours while Dan kept the boys and all the girls played around us. Monica and I are starting our quilting get-togethers on Thursday of this week. I am looking forward to that time very much.
Hold on... I am getting tea......
Oh, do you smell that??? Celestial Seasonings Sleepytime - smell that mint??? Ahhhhhhhhhhhh..................
Going for PJs... be right back....
I am decked out in the Christmas Tree Flannel PJs my precious girlchild bought me for Christmas this year. I also have a very old pair of crocheted slippers upon my feet that my Meemaw made for me while I was in college. They, too, are red, white and green and have little jingle bells on them that sing when I walk down the hall. LOL
Now, where was I... oh yeah, the weekend. Saturday was a typical spring cleaning workday for me. I got some things cleared out and made a list of more stuff to tackle over the coming month. I got caught up on my Bible reading and did a bit of study. I stayed offline quite a bit to get stuff done.
Sunday - nothing really to speak of that wouldn't just depress you and me so I will move on...
Monday, Dan went back to work and we did a full day of schooling. We are totally loving the DSL because we can finally listen to radio and talk shows online. I have been filling my brain with some Alistair Begg the past few days. I am spending lots of time at OnePlace.com when I am working in the kitchen. It is so nice to have access to such things to fill my mind and heart.
Today we had a morning of schooling, an afternoon of piano lessons and then dinner. In the midst of yesterday and today I have been taking it easy with the tummy issue and getting a bit of reading done. My oldest just got his Boy Scout uniform and book and has been tying knots in EVERYTHING! The other children have been enjoying the sunshine when it comes in between the wind gusts. Emmy has a new playhouse (another upcoming blog) and she LIVES IN IT!!! LOL
Tomorrow is a breadbaking and sewing day. I have patches to put on a uniform and the family needs bread. Guess what... I SOLD MY FIRST BREAD, TOO!!! Dan and I have prayed about this and God is opening doors for me to sell my bread - we are starting small and only selling to friends and family up front. If this takes off I will have to get in line with some health code and get a new oven and separate workspace but we are trusting God for His plan in this. This would be the beginning of a fabulous dream of mine... *YESSSSSSSSS...*
In other news, I got a new magazine in the mail you guys need to know about. I am going to be doing a post in a day or so for you about it. I am also working on some more book reviews and have another on the way soon. I really am LOVING the book review thing, too. God is SO GOOD!!!!! He is allowing me to be a part of some really fun projects right now.
Well, I have rambled on enough for now... You are pretty much caught up and I have a few things to do before I head to bed. See you all tomorrow...
