We had a wonderful time last night at my friend Ingra's home. It was four families and we had our second annual get-together at her home. As we left we made plans for same time next year... LOL The evening was filled with firsts for me. I have to admit I don't put myself out there very much but last night I took on the challenges. We began our evening with a great meal. We had spaghetti, meatballs, breadsticks, salad and a slew of veggie and dip finger foods. It was really a healthy spread. At some point during the night the cake and ice cream came out but I had a little smidge of cake. Being sick with icky tastebuds kinda keeps you from overeating.

After dinner we broke out the Karaoke machine my SIL and her hubby got for Christmas and sang and danced and literally laughed for about two hours or so. What a blast!!! There was a song for everyone to sing. Our kids even got involved. Davy, our six year old, was reading the screen and hanging with his Dad as they sang Frank Sinatra's New York, New York. It was HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!! I had never done Karaoke before and I am still not sure I would actually do that in public but with friends it was so much fun!!!
We took a little break to grab a bit of that cake and ice cream and then we broke out the the Texas Hold'em set and I learned how to play poker. Not with real money but with chips. I was the first one out but it was great fun and I stayed at the table to watch as they continued to play. I learned a lot and have changed my mind about poker. It really is a thinking person's game and without the money bets it is quite fun.
We paused about halfway through the game to ring in the New Year with some sparkling cider and kisses and hugs all around. At this point the littlest ones were sound asleep but our oldest three were ready for noisemakers and poppers. Once the noisemakers were used up we put on a movie for the kids that were still awake and headed back to the table for more Texas Hold'em.
The party broke up around 2:30am and we drove home, tucked kids into bed. I got a dose of medicine to curb the sinus issues and we headed to bed. Needless to say, we slept in this morning and I am still lazing around and resting with this cold.
I have bread to bake, some laundry to fold and a last box to pack away from Christmas stuff. Dan heads back to work by Thursday and the next few days are about getting our front bathroom tiled and getting the new toilet in. We are also looking for a new cabinet for the front part of the bathroom to add more storage in there.
Still to come...
