A New Week Ahead...

I do realize that most everyone is going to be scarce this week.  Since my mother has gone home I am back and blogging but with Thanksgiving it will not be everyday - probably.  The week past was a delightful visit with my Mom.  It was a full week of music for us, too.  JoNathan performed in the All-Region band on Saturday and had rehearsals throughout the week in preparation for that.  He had the time of his life!  What a fabulous experience it all was for him.  My Mom was able to stay and hear the band on Saturday and she was thrilled as were we all.

In other news, I am getting ready to prepare food for Thursday.  We have gone to my in-laws for the past 8 years or so and my MIL always makes the turkey, dressing and a pecan pie.  My job usually includes preparing bread and buttermilk pie (my Meemaw's recipe) but this year I am adding a green jello salad and cranberry sauce (the real stuff not the round can mold - LOL).  In preparation for that I made a trip to the grocery store while the kids were at Grandma's for piano lesson this morning.  I got everything I will need for the coming week and a few Christmas stocking stuffers to boot.  That is a good trip in my opinion.  ;-)

We are not doing much school this week because there is so much to do to get ready for Thursday and then we traditionally put the Christmas tree up on the Friday or Saturday after Thanksgiving.  We also traditionally start playing Christmas music at that time also but I have had a hankering for it a bit early this year so I started yesterday.  *snickering*

We celebrate Advent and really downplay the whole Santa thing.  The kids will get one really nice gift, pajamas and a stocking full of goodies but that is about it from us.  The grandparents always provide the rest.  They buy for cousins and the adults draw names to buy for couples.  Dan and I are buying for MIL and FIL this year - they are so hard to buy for!  I will be sending a package of goodies my parents way, too and some homemade ornament for SILs on my side of the family.

I always post an Advent calendar so look out for that coming in the next week.  I am so behind in getting some things done at the WAH board and some other writing assignments.  NaNoWriMo is not going to be finished this year.  I have too many other things going.  NaNo has been good for my housecleaning and other writing projects because I seem to be doing all the other things in order to procrastinate in the NaNo realm.  LOL

I have tons of pictures to upload this week, too.  Give me a day or two.  Right now the kids are trying really hard to wake the baby from his nap in spite of my threats of thrashings if they wake him.  ;-)  Gotta get going and send some children outside to play.  It is a lovely day with temps in the 60's.  Have a good one...

Blessings!!!

Nov. 21, 2005 - Catching up

Leanne,
So glad you had a nice visit with your mom! We're taking this week off of school, too. We will put up our tree and decorate for Christmas on Friday. I told the kids they could take a few of their Christmas videos to Grandma and Papa's for Thanksgiving. I thought that way they could watch them downstairs and (hopefully) let my husband and I and my dad watch the football game upstairs! I wanted to let you know I'm all finished teaching my quarter of Bible study. It was a great experience, but I'm really glad I'm done. I need that four to five hours a week back! When we come back from Thanksgiving break we'll start a new topic, and I'll just be a regular attender. Thank you for your prayers. Have a blessed Thanksgiving!
Carrie
