Update on my mom...

She had surgery and came through beautifully!  She rested well through the night and will be working on moving around today, getting a shower and cleaning up as she feels like it.  She gets to go home tomorrow.  Thanks for your prayers.... keep them going for a speedy recovery and healing of that bone and tissue around the break.  Pray for my dad, too.  They are planning a very quiet Christmas and my brothers will be stopping by to check on them, too.  I wish I could be there but am still not allowed to travel myself.  I will be calling and checking in with them often, too.

Pray for my Mom, please!!!

She fell at handbell practice last night and broke her arm.  She will be having surgery to put a pin in and she will have a long road ahead with healing.  Thanks!!!

I am home...

Ladies, everything went VERY smoothly.  The following update may be TMI but I am amazed at how God has gotten me through this so well.

*  Surgery is suppose to be about a two hour procedure.  I was out in 1.5 hours.
*   My ovaries were much too "beautiful" (to quote the doctor) to even consider removing them.
*   Voiding came very quickly and everything adjusted back to normal quickly
*   No blood clots
*   No fever
*   No upset tummy
*   lots of sleep
*   pain pills are good
*   eating normally within 36 hours after surgery
*   came home yesterday late afternoon and ate and went to bed. 
*   I was originally scheduled to go home today but did very well and got the early go-ahead


Dan got a new battery for my cell-phone so it is good to go now.  Thanks for all of your prayers through this time.  I still have much recovery ahead but I feel it will go quickly and I will be obedient in all the instructions the doctor gave to insure it. 



PS.  Dan is not a techie so he was not able to update here.  He is SO afraid of the blog screen!  LOL

Just a few days...

I thought I would put this here for anyone interested.  I have pre-op coming and the surgery is next week.  I am still going to be scarce here until after I get home from the hospital.  I will try to get Dan to post when I come through surgery next week.  Your prayers are appreciated...

On a lighter note, I have one more class and a final and I AM DONE!!!

My Mom arrives tomorrow!!!  I am SO READY for her to be here and the kiddos are just bouncing off the walls in anticipation.  LOL 

Thought I would also share a bit of exciting news...  We take, what is called, a practical in our culinary classes.  The purpose of the test is to see where we stand.  It consists of a 3 1/2 hour free for all of baking which includes a yeast bread, dinner rolls, two kinds of cookies (chewy and crispy), eclairs, pastry cream and a plated dessert with five different elements.  It does NOT affect our final class grade but it gives the instructor a view of what we have learned and how much we need to learn in future classes.  In the past four years that my instructor has been teaching in the pastry classes there have only been four students that have passed this test in the baking fundamentals class.  The test is a pass/fail situation with a passing score being 375 points.  Well, a fifth student passed it last night with a score of exactly 375... that would be ME!!!  I was so very thrilled!!!!!  The chef instructor was so encouraging and congratulatory, too.  I think I am doing what I am suppose to be doing...  I love my life!!!!!

Needing some specific prayer....

Dan is not feeling well.  He has been off since he started this second medication during the summer but lately it seems worse.  We are going to try to get him to go to the doctor but life is so busy at school for him right now.  Please pray he will be willing to go and that I won't nag and that he will have some answers.  Thanks!!!

Lord, watch over my family!

Today has been a bit overwhelming!  We arrived at our church for VBS to find that our fellowship hall had been "tagged" by a local gang member or group.  It will take some time to get it off.  The words that were plastered on our windows were racist and disconcerting to say the least.  It is a serious violation to all of us that witnessed it. 

Just a little over an hour ago there was a gang battle 1/4 of a mile from our home with two cars full of gang rivals shooting at each other in a very family friendly area.  This has NEVER happened where we live before but I am afraid this is not the last of it that we will see.  I so want to move away from this place sometimes... 

God help us and protect our families in the midst of a world gone mad!!!

Really no words...

Natalie had surgery.... cancer is inoperable.  All I can do is pray and hope that God will intervene.

Why

I have a sweet friend that I have loved for 5 years that has been diagnosed with cancer.    Her name is Natalie.    I am just asking that you pray for her and her family right now.  Thank you...
