Anchorage: Children's Dance Theatre
Children's Dance Theatre is a unique dance experience for children,
based on the philosophy that dance for children should be both
disciplined and liberating, building self-esteem as well as developing
an appreciation for dance as participant and observer. At Children's
Dance Theatre, learning dance and loving dance go hand in hand. Through
classes, offered in a non-competitive, supportive atmosphere, children
grow to appreciate the beauty and power of both the art of dance and
themselves. Costumes and props such as tutus, tiaras, masks,
tambourines and ribbons enliven and enhance the dance experience.
Children help create and participate in two "low-stress" performances
each year. The emphasis remains on learning, loving and enjoyment
rather than anxiety-producing tryouts and exhausting rehearsal
schedules. All children are fully involved regardless of body, stature,
and ability.

The Alaska Fine Arts Academy was founded in 1984 by Art and Eleanor
Braendel and has been serving the Eagle River community ever since. Our
Mission is to enrich our community by providing arts education and
cultural experience for all.
We believe that:
involvement in the arts is an important part of an individual's
and a community's well-being.
art instructions should be available to everyone---regardless of
age, gender, race, income or previous experience.
and, we believe that, as we creatively engage our environment we
will become better citizens and develop stronger connections to our
