May. 2, 2008 - Praise God From Whom all Blessings Flow!

SchoolinRhome is having a contest right now, giving away some devotional journals and a book about cooking with kids.  The whole question was, how you feel blessed as a mom.  All of us here could probably write a pretty lengthy blog entry about all the blessings that come along with being a homeschooling mom.  I put my entry in, and I about wrote a novel in the comment!

With Mother's day approaching, it is good for all us to ponder our roles as mothers.  Why do we do what we do?  What does God ask of mothers?  What can we do or continue to do for our families that will bring glory to God?

I have had some major conviction recently.  One of them being the fact that my husbnad and I have been very susceptible to taking things in life into our own hands, rather than putting our full weight of trust on God.  We have let the things going on in our lives take precedent over our relationship with the Lord.   Our homeschooling, fertility, jobs, finances, everything.  Once that starts happening, hearts start to become hard.  And a hard heart means no place for God's word to grow and flourish.  Like the seed that falls onto the thorny soil (Mt. 13:7). The thorns sprout up and choke the plant.  When situations and things in life become a priority, the work God wants to do in our lives gets choked.  I am always so glad when our sin (even though it can be hard to face) is brought to the surface, and we are able to take a step forward in our walks with the Lord.

May. 3, 2008 - moms need to rely on God!

Posted by SchoolinRhome
A great post! Moms are busy people and it can be easy to start relying on self and not FULLY rely on Him. I have grown so much by my kids but never more than when I just let the Lord lead me and help me. I always try to remind myself to make sure the things that count for eternity, count the most in our lives and schedules!!!
Have a great weekend! Thanks for the "shout out" about the contest. This is my first one so I wasn't sure how'd it go!
All praise and glory to our Lord & Savior,

Thanks for your comment on my blog! I highly recommend trying kefir again, but instead of trying to drink it plain (BLECH!), use it in your blender with fruit to make a smoothie. It works well and all you taste is the fruit! Then, take that step and add in some veggies, too.

Have you stopped by my recipe blog? You can find it on my right sidebar. I have several smoothie recipes.

Kombucha cultures can be purchased from www.gemcultures.com or, if you find someone local who makes it, she'll have one to share sooner or later. The culture is self-propagating, so once you get started, you have an endless supply.

Hope you can get one soon!

Blessings, Mommaofmany

How hard it is to see our faults but how wonderful to know that we can ask our Savior for forgiveness and He will cleanse us and restore us.
He is so wonderful.
I hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day.
Blessings,
Ruth
