What's for breakfast?

What do YOU eat for breakfast?  Not what your children eat, but you...

See, most days, my children help themselves to waffles, toast, or cereal and fruit.  Every other day, I scramble some eggs for them or make hard boiled eggs the night before.  Breakfast for my children is easy.

However, I'm a totally different story.  Because I have high cholesterol, I cannot eat eggs every single day.  I'm trying to eat healthy and lose weight... What do you eat in the morning that fills you up?  Most days, I just eat a SlimFast bar or a Zone bar.  I know it's not the best thing, but it's quick and easy, though not all THAT satisfying.

So, I was just curious... what do you eat for breakfast?

Let's see, I eat a lot of different things. I like:

1 c. oatmeal with 1 tsp. butter and a slice of dry toast (4 points)

1 WW yogurt and strawberries, blueberries or melons (2-3 points depending on fruit)

WW bagels or Thomas' Light English Muffins (2 for bagel, 1 for EM) with 1T peanut butter (2) and a yogurt or banana (1)

1 c. cheerios (2) with 1 point of fruit, either a banana, blueberries, strawberries (1) and 1 c. skim milk (2)

Curves protein shake (4)

I love to make breakfast, so on my blog you can find banana oat hotcakes, blueberry scones, I am going to try some applesauce pancakes.

I get a lot of ideas from Light and Tasty magazine. It is the best $14.95 I spend each year. You get all kinds of "real" recipes, they are healthy, and have all the nutritional info listed for each one. www.lightandtasty.com

OK...now I really do need to get ready to go dancing :)

If you are trying to lose weight and bring down cholesterol, may I suggest a book called "8 Minutes in the Morning" There are several versions we happen to have the one for Extra-Easy Weight Loss. I have loved it thought I must confess with all the moving around we have done of Late I have not followed it as I should. But the author Jorge Cruise suggest using Flaxseed oil or meal. We have used both but prefer the meal. You can sprinkle it in yogurt or over cereal(hot or cold) and it helps to control your appetite as well as a good source of Omega 3 fatty acid which is good for bringing down your bad Cholesterol. Anyway I have loved reading the book and following the meal plan. It is fairly easy to stay on and there are exercises that you can do at home in the morning that really help you to start burning fat.(Speaking for myself of course) Let me know what you think of the book I checked the original version out at the Library and found it to be the most simplisitic and possibly the most appealing to follow of all the diets I read about.
