Well, I hadn't planned for it, but this past week has ended up being a vacation week. We did school on Monday; however, that's been about it.
Tuesday morning we had school pictures and then I needed to take the boys to find some decent pants and shoes for my brother's wedding that is tomorrow. We found the pants but no shoes. Owell. Tuesday evening we went to the zoo since summer is almost over and we had yet to use our annual passes to go to the zoo at night.
Wednesday, my husband is off, so no school. My Dad and stepmother are in town visiting from Wisconsin for my brother's wedding, and they were over at our house on Wednesday evening for dinner.
Thursday was Sarah's gymnastics class at 10am and then Ryan's piano lessons at 11am. However, before that, I had to take the kids with me to the optometrist office because a screw came out of Ryan's glasses causing the lens to pop out of his glasses! Normally we do school in the morning before gymnastics and music; however, he couldn't wear his glasses so I wasn't going to make him do school without them and get a headache. Then, after the optometrist and lessons, we went to some more stores on our search for shoes. Thankfully, we found some at the first store we went to!
So, that leaves today.. Friday. Instead of having school, I invited a friend and her two boys over this morning. The kids played while Debbie & I had some much needed mommy time - letting one another know that we are in the same boat in raising our boys, and that in and of itself is an encouragement! :)
Now, it's lunch time. While the kids eat, I'm on here. Tonight I take our daughter to the rehearsal for the wedding (she's the flower girl). Tomorrow we have Nathan's last basketball game - I'm glad my Dad is in town and able to watch him - and then tomorrow evening is my brother's wedding.
A blessing of homeschool - the ability to be flexible when life happens. This is one reason we start school so early (mid-July). It allows me to take time off when needed without being stressed about missing days. I'll save my post on how we do school for another time.
I also want to share our success so far with the "ticket system" we are using. Be patient... I'm sure I won't be back on here until next week!
