The Towne House

Valentine's update

SIGH--I am very disappointed in myself.  Why does the flesh win these battles so often?

I had psyched myself up to be kind & loving to Steve, no matter what (not that this takes so much effort, but one of my love languages is gifts, so days like Valentine's are a big deal to me), and did I fail.

He bought me such a sweet card.  And he bought me Sue Grafton's latest alphabet mystery book.  I never buy new hard-cover books.  A waste of money, because I only read them once.  I'll usually donate them to a library or pass them on to a friend.  "Oh, no", you're thinking, "She didn't....".  Yes, I did.  That poor, sweet man felt awful after I explained why I wouldn't have bought that book.  I did say thank you, but it kind of loses its meaning after the "but" comes after the thanks.  I am officially crowning myself "Worst wife of the week". (I only say "week" because I know within 7 days I'll do something to make myself feel even worse....PMS is on the horizon.)

Once I had prostrated myself, apologizing for my boorish behavior and saying anything I could think of to assure this man that he is the absolute light of my life, the day went on.

We took the kids to a library (after a charming dinner of chicken nuggets, Rice-A-Roni and veggies ), where we dropped off 5 huge bags of books for their annual sale (I am NOT packing all of these books!).  We then stopped at the grocery store and picked up the fixin's for ice cream sundaes.  YUM! (Diet, what diet?) Once the kids were in bed, Steve and I watched "The Terminal" with Tom Hanks.  Well, we didn't watch it with Tom Hanks, he is just in the movie .

The phone rang off the hook, so Steve ended up falling asleep and I finished the movie by myself.

Today, I'll leave you with the quote that Steve put in my Valentine's Day card.  Its from "Better Off Dead" with John Cusack.  He wrote that he thinks I am "hotter than sunburn."  Now if that isn't romance, what is?

Hi! I'm Amanda, mom to 3 gorgeous kids & wife to Steve. When I'm not homeschooling the kids or cleaning the house, I keep busy with my Pampered Chef business. I'm also learning to sew. I love reading and cross-stitching. We have a great life, here in the littlest state in the Union!
